 Bizarre weather

In toon !

Thunder and lightning and heavy snow!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a thunderstorm in wintry weather before.

Kind of like that weird 24 hrs in the summer this year.

Thundersnow? Well, now let me see. You know, I don`t have any idea what that means. I know what you think it means, sonny. To me, it`s just a made up word. A weatherman`s word, so a young fella can wear a suit and a tie and stand in front of a map of Britain and have a job.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Have to disagree Thundersnow is a pretty good word, which like every word “is just made up”. Scotts has a lot more words for weather than most, however we don’t have one for this rare phenomenon. So I will use this the next time I see Thundersnow, but as last night was my first I may not again

I remember a few years back, think it was the beast fae the east time and I was out sledging with the kids. Just sledging away, when out of nowhere, there was this huge flash of lightning right in front of us. No thunder, just this almighty flash. It wasn`t a bolt, just a flash. Absolutely shat the hat. Apparently, that`s thunder snow as well.

I always assumed lightning required humidity and heat to form but seems its mostly just air pressure and moisture. Last 2 years have been nuts for T&L tbh

I have to love my dad!

I grew up in the 80s with a place mat. Most had Star Wars, I had a specific heat capacity of air chart!
So no it’s not the pressure but the temperature change that creates the initial situation, however it’s then the change of ionisation that creates Thundersnow
