Why did you choose your nic and if it's an obscure one....what does it mean?
Mine is obvious. I'm litteraly "Crackers" . It was a convenient fluke that I chose a parrot as a mascot fitting perfectly with PARrot.
Previohsly when I was a manager af Bowlplex my nic was Bowlplex. That was just an advertising opportunity and my introduction to dotnet. I followed that with Paid2play when I was involved in a MLM opportunity which earned cash from marketing online games.
PARrot was obvious when I setup Squealadeal and bought Crackers.

My one is a quote taken from a scene in the series Breaking Bad. In it the lead character, Walter White, displays that his vanity and hubris had reached its zenith as he berates his wife for doubting his criminal prowess.
At the time it seemed like an edgy pop cultural reference but now I wished I had picked something more befitting for, arguably, dot.nets most insightful and sharp witted contributor.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Sorry 😞
A big fan of Joss Whedon’s award winning tv show BtVS so I started off as Buffy2Bullen, for obvious reasons, then after I stopped greetin I shortened it to my current one. Claim to fame having a font named after moi on the dotnet app. Bless Milos (and BigTPar [for using it 😊]).

In the episode Planet of the Dead, a psychic, Carmen, predicts the Dr’s future that someone will emerge from the darkness with “4 knocks on a door”. It’s also the heart beat of a time lord. I’m not a Whovian (I had to Google the entire reference but I knew I’d seen that particular episode).

So in other words both you and P thought I was some sort of messiah like figure, a chosen one if you will, that would emerge from the darkness to lead us I to a bright new dawn. I`ll take that! Much better than my dated, somewhat cringey, Breaking Bad reference.

Evo! was given to me at school as i Steven and it was shortened to steve and stevo then to Evo, the theory being in the 90s that Ivo Den Biemen being at the pars made it stick as he was popular at the time.
The exclamation mark i like to think was a reference to Steve Holt from Arrested Development, but it could be Evo was too short a username.

Years ago there was a TV show "The Knock" - about a team of H.M. Customs and Excise invesigators.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Knock
Chapping on the suspects door was the signal to enter and raid the premises.
The team boss would give the command "Knock, Knock, Knock" - so I assumed TOWK was based on that !!!

When I used to drink in Montys upstairs at the weekends there was this guy who was into heavy metal. I would always be wearing a t-shirt of some indie band and he started calling me Sad Indie Freak.
When I was creating my first ever email address my real name was already taken and I was under pressure to do it quickly as it was so I could get Internet access at work. The IT guy was stood over me and every variation of my name in the email address I was trying to create was taken.
So sadindiefreak popped into my head.
It became my email address and since then is also my username just about everywhere.
My email has changed but not my generic username.

When I was a student, the guys in my chemistry tutorial class, started to use one another's initials instead of names - don't know why, maybe they thought it was cool. We had a JJ, a TC, an MC and a DD.
I was GG and then Tosh McFarlane, who was a really good footballer*, started adding Riva, sarcastically I reckon, after Italy's WC runner up and prolific striker, Gigi Riva. He still calls me that to this day, so I chose it when I joined Dotnet.
*Started out at the Pars, never got a chance in the first team, went to Raith and played several seasons for the Rovers, before emigrating to Canada.

I was a team manager (Life Assurance not football)! and was a bit older than most of my team. One guy started calling me 'old man' and it stuck. When I first got email there were too many 'oldmans' so I tried 'auldman' and did the same with dotnet. Incidentally that young guy went on to have a good career as a pro footballer and when he left and went full time his salary immediately eclipsed mine x3!

Mine is simply my name and the area of Bradford I live. I also use Hoofitharder it came about from going in a pub after a game. It was full of Bradford City fan`s one of which I got speaking to about our respective games. He asked me how we got on and was it a good game I replied we Hoofed it harder than them. The term just stuck in my head and I have used it as a username. In life I have had mainly two nicknames. When I was young I was called Brett after the character Brett Sinclair from the persuaders. The other is Scotty which almost everyone I know thought it was because I was Scot`s whereas it is because years ago I worked and was friends with a guy called Tim. One day at work we were messing around and in the chit chat I said Here`s adventures of Tim Tim and he replied in a silly voice hey Scotty meaning tintins dog to which I told him it`s name is Snowy but Scotty has stuck. A couple of years ago in the pub the real reason I am called Scotty came out and was gob smacked by the amount of people who thought the dog`s name was Scotty.
