I was speaking to someone who works for Diageo about this a while ago and apparently it costs next to nothing to produce.

Steam that is normally released in the fermentation process is cooled back to a liquid and that produces the gin flavour then water is added. So almost free to produce if what I was told is correct.

D.A are the number one!

The point of it is that some people like the flavour but don't take alcohol. Same with non alcoholic beer or cider.

Not really difficult to understand

If you want the flavour of gin just buy the much cheaper soft drink with juniper flavours. It has no alcohol either.

Can't say I have ever seen much point in alcohol free drinks. I remember stopping booze for a month as part of a health kick. You don't really think about it, but drinking four or five points is actually daft. When you're drinking coke or lime tonic it suddenly becomes obvious that you wouldn't typically consume that volume of liquid.
