Aww I'm really sad about that - I will always remember the time I went to see him with my gran in Motherwell - mainly because I was only 3 at the time and kept telling him to be quiet because I was trying to sleep - RIP Sydney

Tam Cowan paid a tongue-in-cheek tribute to SD on `Off the Ball` with an old joke.

An Irishman, a Scotsman and an Englishman were waiting to be executed by firing squad. Each was granted a final request.

The Irishman said he would like to hear Val Doonican singing `Paddy McGinty`s Goat`.

The Scotsman said he would like to hear Sidney Devine singing `The Crystal Chandelier`.

The Englishman said `Please shoot me first`!
