 iPhone/iPad battery replacement

Anyone have experience of using local shops for replacement of under-performing batteries?

Good experiences or bad ... I would appreciate it if you could share.

Should I hold out for Genius Bar?

The guy at the bottom of Glenrothes town centre has fixed a number of batteries over the years. My daughter had an issue on hers after replacement and he took it back and fixed without issue. Very quick and cheap also. Near Boots.
It is a pretty straightforward procedure for the town centre phone shop guys.

If it's still in warranty then ensure you use an Apple approved repair centre. If it's out of warranty then most of the mobile shops will do it. Not sure where you live but Duloch Computers (guy is just off Aberdour Road) were helpful with me in the past.

I wouldn't try it yourself as there's a risk when bending batteries and also it's far to easy to accidentally break a ribbon cable on iPads.

Yeah I DIYd an early chunky model but is was a pain with melting the glue etc.
