Just spend a good half hour trying to get my wheel off with Audi wrench only a foot long.
Currently got Good Year Eagle tyres on - 255/35R19
Looks like a nail, a couple of cm from the tyrewall, so unlikely it can be repaired. It would be one of the rears, as they were in better condition than the fronts, which had an advisory last MOT
I don`t use the car very much these days, so I was checking online and Asda tyres are showing a Kormoran tyre with over 500 good reviews at £87 each. A Good Year performance tyre like I have is over £130, as are similar specs from Hankook, Dunlop, Firestone etc
Question - is it worth playing an extra £45 a tyre when I`m doing very few miles and very limited motorway driving?

Don't know anything about these but I bought cheap tyres once. Never again. Pulling away from junctions would result in wheel spins and the wet performance was awful. I figured I could live with it but ended up getting rid as the car felt dangerous with them on.

Try Black Circle tyres online. Well priced and plenty of choice with lots of info on each tyre.
Personally I’ll always pay more for decent tyres, it’s worth the money.

Can't put a price on safety.
Spend as much as you can... It's worth it.
A quick Google brings up this...
Overall Kormoran Road Performance review
According to the test results Kormoran took last place.
Main conclusions:
The worst wet performance.
Low straight and average lateral aquaplanning resistance.
The worst dry performance.
Good comfort.
Average noise and rolling resistance.
Apparently Cormoran are owned by Michelin but they are very much their low end budget tyres

Uniroyal rainsport tyres. Made by Continental. Put them on as a mid price alternative to Bridgestone runflats on my and they're miles better.

Can't speak highly enough about sava tyres... Good guys and decent prices.
They replaced my brake pads last year and I always get my tyres there.

Raymie I always replace my tyres with the originals it is worth it ... The car was road tested with the originals so it makes sense to stick with them as replacements

Depending on what you are doing with your car longer term it could impact your trade in value. I had a lotus Evora a while back and they said if I had anything other than the specific tyre that was on it they would take the cost of a new set off of any trade in value. Admittedly a specialist car with a tyre that was designed specifically for it but if you have cheap tyres on and a dealer spots it then I would expect that to impact on value

Raymie, that's a pretty serious tyre size so presumably a high performance car? £135 is actually pretty reasonable for decent quality tbh.
I was quite surprised when a main dealer fitted a cheap replacement tyre to my current car I when I was buying it but they wouldnt budge and it's on the rear of a front wheel drive car and it's been fine.

Had 2 front Kormoran tyres on my Qashqui, replacing Continentals and really didn't notice the difference.
Supplied by Fairdeal Tyres Crossgates, where I always go.
Costco are worth checking out for prices.

Don't skimp on tyres mate. Pretty beasty dimemsions too; is it a RWD ?
I always used to go for Toyo T1 Proxies or Pirelli P Zeros.

Always used to go for Goodyear or Michelin but last 3 or 4 times have used Kumho or Avon as decent mid price alternative. Both of which have been decent grip in the wet and handling been great also. Have a look at black circles for your tyre size and look at the reviews

Falken, Toyo, Avon, Michelin all been fine for me. Road X (believe these may be Arnold Clark only) have been fine on one of my cars for over a year now.
Wish I could remember the name of the brand I had fitted before. I ordered them through Black Circles and it was honestly like driving on ice whenever it was wet. Made the Pitreavie roundabout an experience!

Raymie altho Blackcircles is a great app, use it to find supplier then phone supplier directly.
2 weeks ago I used blackcircles to get tyres for my Daughters car, £140 for 2 original tyres. When she got them fitted the guy fitting them said if we had went direct we would have saved £30
 East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

Hey Raymie,
I had to buy last year and have just checked a few of these cheaper internet sites out.
Blackcirlces were the cheapest for michelin primacy 4. The others were same price after vat but fitting on top.
I went to Osbourne Motors to fit. He could not match the price they offer for fitting and was happy for me to just order through them. Good service as well, you get to pick day and time.
Prices for my 235/45/18`s were about 160 per corner fitted including vat. None of the others (camskill etc ) could get near that when taking fitting costs into account.
With yours being 4 wheel drive, they recommend fitting in pairs. See what wear is like on the other wheel(same axel). If it`s less than 3mm I would do both.

Thanks, Welshy. Will be fitting new ones all round. The front pair would probably fail at next MOT.
I see the garages probably make a few extra quid by then getting you to get alignment done ?

The cost on screen is the full cost, balancing and valves and disposal. Some places might hit you with this as well as they are stricter on this.
Alignment is a totally different thing but for you might be worth doing. Ideally a 4 wheel alignment but there are not many places do that.
I would only do it if you see uneven wear.
When i got my tyres, garages were struggling to source them.
In the end I got 4 for around 140 each. Expensive but for the 40 quid saving over what else was available it was a no brainer.
I`ve had Osbournes do mine twice now. Nice setup, trustworthy and local.
I used to go to D and G religiously but I feel they are now pushing for work. Take an older care and it`s 400 quid mot. Not sure i trust them anymore. That was the one at Baldridge Burn. Others may be different , i think they run them as franchsies.

Can only speak for the Pitcorthie D&G but they've never pushed for extra work. In actual fact, at my last MOT they told me to leave a couple of things as I'd mentioned the car wasn't doing a great mileage right now due to working from home. They'll also source whatever tyres you want for a good price.
Also recommend Fife Autocentre. Good guys in there too.
