 Post Foam for Fence Posts

Anyone used post foam as opposed to postcrete?

I've got some fairly urgent repairs to make to my fence and the normal stuff is pretty hard to come by right now.

Not used it but I've seen people use it online and it seems to work well. Question I'd have would be long term. I know in the States they use expanding foam to lift sunken concrete driveways so it must be pretty robust.

Used to use this to make lasts for shoes, depends on the mix of the constituents but it can be hit with a hammer if it's a strong mix. Should be ideal

There`s some crap reviews on youtube if you look hard enough.

When they do the positive reviews it`s all pretty much within the hour of using it, the poor reviews come a couple of days later when the foam has then shrunk and left voids.

I have a spare bag of postcrete sitting if you want it? I’m down near sky in Dunfermline.

Back to being drenched in my own negativity….

Thanks for the offer. Grabbed a couple of bags of the foam already. If it doesn't work then at least I know for sure. Might still take you up on it!

Why the hell is there no ready-mixed mortar or concrete available ... anywhere?

Well ... any retailer in Dunfermline at least?

Construction is booming so there's a global shortage on pretty much everything. Add covid, Brexit and the suez canal blockage and the supply chain is screwed.

Yep, not sure what it's like here but timber prices in the US are ridiculous right now.

There was an article on the bbc about it... unusual weather has impacted soft wood production from our usual source along with brexit (as we get most of it from Europe)
Weather also impacted production of building materials from America and lastly container transport has fine up in price... think a shipment from China used to cost under 2k and it’s now over 9k

Found it https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57247757.amp

So, I used the foam to put up a few posts.

I was apprehensive but it`s absolutely spot on. So easy to mix and pour and the posts were rock solid in half an hour.

Obviously I don`t know how they`ll be in a couple of years time, but so far so good.

Highly recommended.
