 Phone Network Switch

I have an old Samsung Galaxy S2 phone, which I gave to a relative in Italy. I used the O2 network, he uses Wind. When he put his SIM card in it asks for a PIN no, but my phone has had a factory reset, so it doesn't have one.

We took it to a phone shop and the guy said we need to phone O2 and get them to unlock it. Is there any other way we can do this?

Thanks in advance for any helpful advice.

That's on old one!

It was more common for old phones to be locked to a network

Definitely worth phoning them and asking I suspect (although I've not done myself)

Independent phone shops can unlock phones so that they work on any network but with older phones it isn`t as simple for them and if they can it will likely take them a few days.
Also it would cost 10 to 15 quid to have it unlocked whereas you can buy a newer Samsung model than the one you have there GG, technically used but still in A+ condition, for 20 odd pounds from Ebay.

Cheers, TOWK. Sounds like my old phone should be donated to a museum. 😄
