 Who can explain this puzzle?

I couldn't quite believe my eyes whilst shopping in two local stores recently.

In Home Bargains, you can buy 400g of McVittie's digestive biscuits for 79p. Alternatively, you can buy the family value twin pack (800g) for £1.99. Eh? 🤔

ASDA are selling their own brand bran flakes at 99p for a 1kg box. Quite a bargain considering a 500g box will set you back £1.10, so 1kg in 2 boxes costs £2.20!!!

I've scratched ma heid fur ages but all I got was a skelf. ☹

It's the way of the world... Don't question the system... Troublemakers will be assimilated into the collective.

It's usually because one is on offer. Fairly common that it's cheaper to buy two 1l bottles of Coke than a 2l.

ASDA seems to have a higher proportion of numpties so they probably don't notice. When I was in last week there was a group of people who sounded like weegies but may just have been neds. No masks and clearly a bit lacking in the brain department. One was amazed that there was now washing powder with built in fabric softener.

Fairly common to see people in there in their pyjamas.

The bran flakes were not on special offer, Jake - at least it didn`t have the usual yellow price tag they use for offers.

I`ve come to the conclusion that the boxes must be more valuable than the contents. Anyone got a better theory?

Probably just ASDA being ASDA. So many questions:

Why are there people eating McDonalds whilst walking around the shop?

Why does that woman have to touch every item on the reduced trolley?

Why is that woman wearing her baffies to do her shopping?

Where are that child's parents?

Why are there storage baskets in every effing aisle blocking access to the food?

Why is that man eating the food he's not bought yet?

Does that girl realise this is ASDA and not a club in Ayia Napa?

Is that guy drunk?

That's ASDA price.

A few years back I helped run a bar at a Rotary fund raising event.

On the Friday afternoon we bought several cases of Belhaven Best which was on a special price deal on a sale or return basis.

We returned a few unused cases on the Monday and were refunded at the regular higher price because the promotion had ceased over the weekend !!!

If only we’d known in advance…….

Tesco have exactly the same.No idea when the two are next to each other and it is cheaper to buy the bigger than the smaller.Wife gave me a telling off last week for picking up the 200g coffee when the 230g coffee was exactly same price.Changed and she was happy, well sort of as ever.

It’s a marketing trick that makes you pick up something that you maybe weren’t that bothered about buying but because you’ve seen a larger amount being sold at a cheaper price you feel like you’re getting one up on them. It’s actually on the contrary.

Sometimes to do with use/sell by dates but not always.

In other words the smaller item is placed there (deliberately) to make the larger item look like it’s a bargain.

Don’t let her fool you into being comfortable. Women are never happy. I have been running a tally chart since lockdown and it is miserable reading.

Another one is Radox shower gel and bubble bath. The same chemicals go into both but the bubble bath is half the price of the shower gel.

Amazing the number of men here who know their supermarket offers etc.

Apart from my regular real ale/craft beer price checks I haven`t a clue on such deals !!!

`Er indoors is an authority on where to get item X at best price at all the major local supermarkets.

I'm with you on that one VEE, these prices are set to catch people like us out, I do shopping very rarely, you see 2 for £3 and automatically pick it up as your wanting out of there as quick as possible. You just don't check their only £1.20 each

East End Park is a symbol of all that is DAFC.

I can’t speak for others VEE but I’m single and can’t work so every penny’s a prisoner.
The shopping is the easy part, it’s putting it away that’s the biggest pain for me.
