Grapes of Wrath 1500 Talking Pictures today. Films don’t always do novels justice but Henry Fonda and co are at the top their game in this Steinbeck classic.
One of the most moving books I’ve ever read.

Talking Pictures TV is an amazing channel. It shows some real classics, some hidden gems, fascinating documentary shorts and some absolute dross! I`m sure I saw somewhere that it was started by some guy from his house.

It's run by a father and daughter. Apparently they bought the rights to these old films quite cheaply from the bbc

Laurel and Hardy get an occasional showing and there was a showing of the original Whisky Galore. None of this CGI or Marvel rubbish from these days.
Like for example the amount of unnecessary screaming and noise from Disney Pixar films like the Croods and other such nonsense.
Recording this one for sure. Thanks for that.

Takes me back to Palace Rosyth Saturday morning flicks as a nipper.
Armed with a bar of Highland Cow toffee that would glue bricks together, sit doon to watch cartoons, newsreel, Big film, B Film, trailers ….emerge blinking in the sunshine hours later, or the gathering gloom in Winter.

May have something to do with my Father being the Manager 64-68.

Very nice to read that Ghoulz, I was a bit old for Saturday mornings by then and don’t recall going there in my teens.
No doubt your dad would have his hair cut at the adjacent hairdresser/barber which I now hear has closed after all those years.
