 WiFi mains socket

thought this may be of interest

Bought a couple from B&Q last year, £15 for 2, normally £10 each

These are ideal for controlling Christmas lights or other devices.

Found same device in Poundland for £5, works a treat and uses same App as the b&q ones

Saw them in Asda for £18 🙈

I was given 2 of the Amazon ones when I renewed my broadband package earlier this year. They’ve been sitting gathering dust since then as I didn’t see or have any use for them. Someone said the other day that they used theirs for their Christmas lights as well and I’ve now found a use for them. No more crawling under the tree to switch them on and off everyday thankfully. Great wee things :-)

Before everyone rushes out and buys these.
Which magazine carried out an investigation into them and found they were a fire hazard.
It was the Hictkon smart plug that was identified as a risk but personally I wouldn't trust any of them.

We have 10 used in various places around the house - lamps etc - running Alexa routines on timers. Have done so for years and they are brilliant - just tell Alexa good night and everything switches off.

One or two early ones Wi-Fi died but newer ones are more robust. Added to Nest, various sonos and a robot vacuum we have loads of stuff running off Alexa.

Did your parents go on holiday to Paris one year and forget you? This sounds like a familiar setup 😂

I`ve got a couple for indoor and outdoor Christmas lights. The best thing is you can create a routine on Alexa with them. Now if I say Alexa, `Bring on Christmas`, all the Christmas lights go on and Maria Carey fires up on the Speaker. It`s torture.

Amazed you`ve got any speakers left. I`d be battering mine with a hammer.

I`ve got one on a fan so when I start to get too hot running on the treadmill I can shout to Alexa, `start the fans` like like I`m in the Crystal Maze.

I agree about the safety aspect, but the ones I mention do seem better.
I`ve had two for over a year with no issues or of them getting warm.

Neighbours are pretty old, must reckon my Mrs is called Alexa and I’m very demanding wandering about the house shouting at Alexa to start the vacuum or put the light on
