Scotland coach Gregor Townsend refused to be drawn about counterpart Eddie Jones saying his England side will be "going after" Scotland on Saturday.
England have only beaten Scotland once in the last four meetings.
England coach Jones has been quoted as saying "we`re going up there to get them" in the opening weekend of the Six Nations at Murrayfield.
"It`s good to hear they will be competitive - that`s what we want," Townsend told BBC Scotland.
Indeed, Scotland`s head coach sees "keeping the emotions in check" as one of his main tasks before matches against traditionally their biggest rivals.

This year`s tournament is shaping up to be a very good one. The quality across all sides is frightening at the moment (maybe apart from Italy or course).
Scotland have improved again but I fear so have everyone else. It`ll come down to very fine margins. A 2 point swing last year (and some better discipline) in the two home games v Ireland and Wales and it would have been a grand slam.
Im very excited to see how this pans out.

Italy were superb today .. due to unforeseen circumstances they were reduced to 13 men for nearly the whole game .. down to 12 with 5 mins to go but to a man they gave their all .. MOM .. the whole Italian squad .. Brava Italia
