Bears avalanches and moose can all kill. My colleague is on holiday in Alaska right now and has seen these three in the last two days and sent the photographs to prove it. Have a great time it looks lovely, well except for the aforementioned death traps.

You will get closer to a whale than any bears or avelanches on a cruise. My wife did this when we visited my son in the Yukon. I missed it due to getting horsed off the plane in Germany. Took another week to get there, as documented on here at the time lol.
She is still raving about it. Experience of a lifetime.
Breaching whales, dolphins, sea lions, bald headed eagles and all the scenery.
Enjoy.

That`s funny because my sister went on a Carribean cruise around one of the major islands. Jamaica? No she went because she wanted to.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

A workmate went there and did one of those "live like a pioneer" experiences. Back at work we were discussing holidays and he said "I went to Alaska and shoed a horse. How about you?".
"Me? Nothing as flashy as that, I just went to Blackpool and told a donkey to fūck off".

Got friends that live there. Going by their photos, breathtaking beauty and wildlife literally on your doorstep( don`t forget the moose, otters and wolves). One of them lives opposite side of the sound to a `supermax` prison. Apparently no one even tries to escape as they will die of cold or get eaten by the wildlife. Fairbanks is known as squarebanks and everyone has a rifle or 2. The other lass is an archaeologist for parks and wildlife and is kept exceptionally busy with all the permafrost melting and exposing all manner of stuff never seen before that needs catalogued and kept. She lives in a cabin in the woods with her hubby, a bairn and a dug and is pretty much self sufficient like these folk on the telly. Would love to go but do the drive up through Canada from Seattle. Take a month or two and do a proper tour of the north.
