 Putting Greens?
Topic Originator: Ghoulz

Can anyone tell me where the traditional putting greens are anywhere near Dunfermline?

I’m thinking more of the full 18 or 9 hole traditional affairs rather than just one or two holes.

NOT crazy golf thanks.

Are there any?

Cheers.

I doubt there are any now. The council used to run them and tennis courts but that was long ago.
Rosyth had a really good one. After a game of tennis my mate and I would sometimes have a round for a penny a hole. I was right handed with a tennis racquet but held a putter or cricket bat left handed. He was the opposite.
Maybe that explains why we weren’t very good at either…!

I grew up living in Admiralty Rd and we played putting as often as we could over the summer holidays. As teenagers we created our own golf course around the park including our version of the 16th at Augusta played over the length of the paddling pool.

Toonhill has one, grass is nicely cut, although I`ve not been close enough to see if it has holes now. I think Aberdour has one too

Whereabouts is the Townhill one? I`m pretty sure the area where there used to be one us now the enclosed playpark. This sounds like a new one though.

It`s up past the pavilion. There are some basketball courts and it`s right beside them

Putting in the meadows/bruntsfield used to be excellent. Pint in the tavern then off round the 36 holes.

Jefferey,

The Meadows is Pitch and putt. 27 holes although only played a variation of 18.

Himalayas in St Andrews.

All the council ones aren`t funded anymore. unless the Beveridge park has normal putting?

there are a few holes at both Cluny and Wellsgreen where you could make up 9 different holes

The Himalayas at St Andrews is fantastic. Worth the trip for that alone

There`s one in Aberfeldy as well if you fancy doing a tour of the area while you`re there! 😉 Haha

Pitlochry one is good. St Andrews Himalayas used to be better but it`s still good fun. Think there is also one at the other, smaller beach down by the harbour. Used to be a good one at Crieff which is long gone, same for Callander.

Kelty ... The one at the East Sands (harbour area) is looooong gone, many years ago. My cousins used to run it.
