 Energy scam

The number on my phone is +447 542 360 152.

The message says, `GOVUK.You are eligible for a discounted energy bill under the Energy Bills Support Scheme. You can apply here. energy.bill-rebate.com`

I nearly did but hesitated because I thought it was automatic. Checked online. Definite scam. The rebate is automatic. Millions could be scammed it says.

I said to my wife, they should send the scammers to Afghanistan, for the Taliban to practice on.

You rarely hear about scammers being prosecuted which is a bit of a worry.

It’s virtually impossible to track them down eck most of the ones set up in the uk use pay as you go mobiles for telephone scams and vpn’s for web based scams and the ones set up in the likes of India for example work in shifts with virtually and endless supply of phone numbers to work from add to that the fact that most are in the pocket of the local police

Come on ye pars ⚽️

Even where closely linked to regulated services it is often more difficult than it is worth.

The company should really be a lot better at sorting this out if it is generated in this country or holding those to account that are allowing it to get in.

Speak for yourselves....
I wired £1000 to a Nigerian prince who`s going to send me back 1.4 million soon.
I was sceptical at first... But he assures me its all legit and above board.
After all... He`s a prince.
🤔

I went to University with an African Prince. He was a real gem of a guy. Funniest thing was the first time he bought an umbrella and then proceeded to open it up then closed it around his head. Always thought he was a bit flush.

Heard a story that an independent journalist had investigated a scam involving the DWP that were going to move their IT operations to India.

He went out to Goa and found numerous Brits that basically lived out there living off UK benefits.

They had houses(some local authority/housing association) in UK that they rented out and lived the life in Goa due to the cheaper cost of living.

The story came to a head when Grenfell happened and numbers in some properties couldn`t be confirmed.

He has offered the story to various outlets with no takers.
