 The Common Cold

I know there are some 200 different viruses which bring on the symptoms we know as a common cold, but I`m wondering if it`s possible to just catch one virus after another, so that you`re rarely, if ever, completely free of it. There`s hardly a day or night goes by when I don`t have to reach for a tissue. I always have some spare boxes at home and carry some in my pockets when I`m out.

I don`t remember having so many colds when I was younger. Are they more prevalent now, or is my immune system much weaker as a result of being an auld git? 🤔

2 years of isolation followed by a fairly cold winter. No surprise Strep A and Scarlet fever is everywhere. NHS24 is absolutely rammed at the moment with this.

Viruses. Do. Not. Need. Antibiotics.

Not when running about this week trying to get Amoxcilyn for my 2yr old grandson, no liquid to be had, ended up with capsules that have to be split open and mixed with liquid.

Though Strep A and scarlet fever are both bacterial infections so do need antibiotics. I would suggest against using antibiotics unless genuinely needed.

You no why there is no Amoxicillin? It`s because parents do not teach their children to take tablets. My wife is amazed by the numbers of people that come into her chemist asking for liquid medicines because their teenagers can`t swallow tablets.

Liquid medicines should be for under 8`s. If that was the case amoxicillin would be readily available.

The "banana " flavoured Amoxcillan has been around for as long as I can remember, and I was born in the 50`s.

Vile? I`m not sure what was vile about that. I was up at Kelty the other day and it was blowing a hoolie, after I got home I was sniffling like no ones business and required kleenex a-plenty.

Colds will stick around as we`ve all been too healthy over the past couple of years. Snogging won`t help though 😂
