For the great Burt Bacharach who has passed away aged 94.
Co wrote so many songs with his lyricist Hal David. Walk on by by Dionne Warwick one of my faves. Loads of others particularly by other female artists - Aretha, Dusty, Cilla etc
Everyone of a certain age will have whistled one or sang one in the bath!

Hadn`t realised he was involved in the soundtrack to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
Although the genres of music he wrote songs for would not always have been top of my listening pile, I did quite like quite a few of his and even the ones I wasn`t that keen on always felt like much better examples of the genres he was writing for than a lot of other songs out there. Supremely talented guy. RIP.

Almost regardless of age everyone will be familiar with at least one Burt Bacharach song. Aretha Franklins version of "Say a little prayer" will always be one of my top 5 songs of all time. A genius and up there with the very best and almost equal to Lennon / McCartney

One of the all time legends of music though it`s worth remembering that most of his greatest hits were co written along with Hal David with the latter writing the lyrics.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed
