The second red made a game of it but still a mountain to climb for Scotland.

High tackles are of course dangerous but, as in football, players are penalised for unintentional offences now. In each case the referee didn`t actually spot any offence.
France managed to score a try when they had the one-man advantage which was crucial I think. I`d prefer to have seen a full game with 30 players on the park.

Scotland were superb today .. a couple of mistakes ultimately led to our defeat
France are a great side and we dominated them for most of the game
Fantastic effort by all .. well done Scotland .. onwards and upwards
We are forever shaped by the Children we once were

The line out functioned perfectly until Fraser Brown threw that long one when we were building a head of steam. If we had gathered that we may have scored another try and went on to win which seemed nigh on impossible at 19-0. What was he thinking with that throw ?
A few minutes left on the clock on their 22 and he throws the ball right over everyone…..baffling.
A fantastic performance though but you are never really coming back from 19 points down in Paris.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

When we went down to 14 early doors (rightly imo) I never expected us to get 1 point on the board never mind 21 so even though we lost it was a fantastic performance Finn Russel looks a totally new player these days Hogg is his usual brilliant best just wish we could have a front row made up of jonnny grays and wp nels as the scrum was terrific
Hopefully we dust ourselves down and gub Ireland for the triple crown no quite a grand slam but that and the championship trophy will look great in the murrayfield trophy room
Come on ye pars ⚽️

From BBC Sport :-
Scotland`s Grant Gilchrist will miss the rest of the Six Nations after being banned for three weeks for his red card against France. The second row was sent off for a high tackle to the head of Anthony Jelonch after six minutes of France`s 31-21 win in Paris. His ban has been reduced from six weeks after Gilchrist admitted his mistake and because of a lack of intent. The Edinburgh lock will miss Scotland`s matches against Ireland and Italy.
The final game of his suspension covers Edinburgh`s trip to face Connacht in the United Rugby Championship on 25 March. However, the judicial committee accepted Gilchrist`s application to go to a tackle coaching course instead of serving the final match of his ban.
France prop Mohamed Haouas has already been banned for four weeks for a head-on-head clear out in the same game, for which he was also sent off four minutes after Gilchrist`s red card. Gilchrist has the right to appeal his ban within three days.

I thought he was a bit unlucky, the first tackle on the Frenchman knocked him into Gilchrists path.

By today`s standards he`s probably been treated quite leniently - a potential 6-game ban effectively reduced to 2.
