Not sure how much "life" he`ll have on the outside anyway. He`s so recognisable that he`ll likely end up a recluse. Does he even have any money left to support himself? I`m a great believer in rehabilitation but not sure I can apply that to the crimes he committed.

For me, it does raise the question, can you separate the art from the artist?

We all admire and enjoy art, music, literature and film created from some terrible people… so why do we censure ourselves from some but not others and should we even do it at all?

Depends on the crime and your personal moral code.
For me, anyone like Glitter or that guy from The Lost Prophets are the worst kind of human and I`d never give their stuff a listen if it meant even a fraction of a penny going to them, or a digit in their listener count.

Always amazes me how people are OK still listening to Michael Jackson. He was clearly a paedophile but was able to buy his way out of it.
David Bowie as well, he used to have sex with underage groupies but you hardly hear a bad word said about him but in my book he was every bit as bad a nonce as Glitter.

The trouble with the likes of Jackson and Bowie is 1. They made some absolutely amazing music and 2. Neither was actually convicted.

That doesn`t make it right, of course!

Phil Spector and Roman Polanski are examples where their art is too good to be cancelled, despite their heinous crimes. Maybe it helps that they were behind the scenes, unlike Glitter whose creepy persona was part of the package.

SIF is right about Bowie - no one want to hear it. Led Zeppelin also seem to get a pass for their behaviour in the 70’s. Different era I know, but still.

Pablo Picasso was a dodgy character by most accounts - that won’t affect the value of his paintings. Ringo Starr beat up Barbara Bach, but no one is cancelling the Beatles.

TBH s large number of the classic artists and writers I got in school were more than dodgy in their treatment towards women and children

I take the point about those individuals financially gaining by us enjoying their creativity - and do we want to reward them as individuals for the art we enjoy or do we deny ourselves that enjoyment from their creativity to punish them further financially

Same goes for Elvis Presley! Man was a pedophile and has a mass following even to this day with his army of impersonators and even a recent film out documenting his life!

Disgraced former pop star Gary Glitter has been recalled to prison after breaching his licence conditions, the Probation Service has said.

The singer, whose real name is Paul Gadd, was freed in February after serving half his 16-year jail term for sexually abusing three schoolgirls.
His recall comes just over a month since being freed.

Upon release, he was subject to licence conditions including having a GPS tag.
The pop star, 79, was one of the biggest music stars of the 1970s.

He was jailed in 2015 for attempted rape, four counts of indecent assault and one of having sex with a girl under 13.

A Probation Service spokesperson said protecting the public was their "number one priority", adding: "That`s why we set tough licence conditions and when offenders breach them, we don`t hesitate to return them to custody."

You have to wonder if it wasn`t intentional. What are the chances of someone spotting him on his mobile?
