Dick Fosbury who invented the technique that revolutionised the high jump has passed away.
Speaking as someone who flopped at every sport I can only admire his legacy..
Apparently it was Fosbury who coined the term `Fosbury Flop` after a local newspaper described him as `flopping` over the bar. He thought the association with being a failure was amusing and offered it to a national journalist.
It`s disputed that Fosbury was the first to use the technique but like the Cruyff turn it will always be associated with when the wider audience first saw it.

My only “win” was a hurdles practice.
To my amazement I finished with nobody in front of me, only to turn around and see everyone laughing their heids aff..the gym teacher had telt us just to jump the first two and I hadn’t being paying attention..
