Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Dementia

I mean I was not expecting much, but to come out thinking Crystal Skull is no longer the worse Indiana Jones film I did not expect.

The first 15 minutes is actually quite good, the CGI rendering of a Young Indy was good enough and although it had the old Indy voice I was left thinking they should have just mad the whole film like this.

Philis Waller Lollobrigida of Sh*tebag fame`s character "Helena" has to be the most annoying worthless character in cinematic history, I`m sure even Willy Scott`s detractors are now reassessing things.

Ford puts in as good a performance as could be expected from an octogenarian but you really have to suspend disbelief to buy into it.

The ending feels tacked-on and you can pretty much tell all the re-shot scenes and it`s amazing to think this was the ending they went with out of the half dozen or so they shot.

An estimated $300,000,000 production budget, add on another $150,000,000 for marketing and considering the cinemas get half of the ticket price this movie has to make about $900,000,000 just to break even.

It took $60,368,101 in it`s opening week domestically and is lining up to be one of the biggest bombs in cinematic history.

Star Wars, Willow and now Indiana Jones, what else has Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy got to ruin? Monkey Island?

There are only three Indiana Jones films and his story ended with him, Sallah, Marcus and his Dad riding off into the sunset in The Last Crusade.

Not seen it yet but everything I`ve heard from anyone who has seems that it`s not a great film at all. And it`s looking like another Disney/Lucasfilm box office disappointment too.
I agree that Last Crusade being the true climax to the story. It is in my head canon anyway.

Regarding Kathleen Kennedy, I think she signed a new contract recently so it`s likely she won`t be going anywhere. Talk about failing upward.

Monkey Island should have stopped after Le Chuck`s revenge

I enjoyed it, 4th best in the series - the ending is no more fantastic than ghosts from the Ark or ancient knights guarding the Holy Grail. It is what it is a series of action sequences with no massive depth as you would expect. Start was ok but opening sequence way too long and was very dark to hide the limitations of the de-aging CGI

Agree re Phoebe W-B who is unbearably smug but marginally better than LaBeouf but that’s not difficult - it’s like they learned nothing from the contempt for that character.

Don’t think the reshoots point is true as stated by the Director James Mangold in his tweet below.

“So I took a b-day break from trolls. But it seems I gotta once again say.. We’re not shooting & never shot any new scenes or "alt endings". Our film is 99% finished, getting rated by MPAA & VFX being completed. Happy Holidays!”

Mangold is a talented director and I think he is artistically better than hindering himself with Kathleen Kennedy`s b**lsh*t.
He`s doing a Star Wars film apparently and I could not give less of a **** about that franchise anymore so I`ll be giving that a miss.

I was at a lose end lately and this film was on at a convenient time at the nearby cinema. I had enjoyed the previous Indiana Jones films, and thought it a safe bet.

I`ve walked out of only two films in my life; this was the second.
I couldn`t accept how bad it was. Even the CGI seemed to be more cartoonish than anything realistic. The `action` scenes, such as the chase scene in the Tuk-tuks, were reasonably lame.

I`m usually ok with suspending belief to be entertained but this was too far for me.

I`ll wait for Disney Plus

It`s a shame how the Indiana Jones series has ended up. It used to be top tier
Not just the original trilogy, some of the computer games in the 90`s were great and for me the Young Indiana Jones TV show was class too.

Went to see it last night with the faither and younger son. 76, 52 & nearly 20 years old. All 3 of us thought it was really, really good!

Kathleen Kennedy surely can`t keep her position much longer? Disney quality has plummeted under her
