 Loch Fitty

Mrs Riva and I went up to Kingseat on Sunday for a wee stroll around beautiful Loch Fitty. It used to be a busy fishery, and folk used to be able to hire a boat. All gone now, but we did see a man with a rod and net, so presumably, there are still fish in the loch?

Does anyone know if it`s possible to walk right round the loch and the distance involved? We did walk a short section of the dirt track on the north side but doubled back due to a lack of time.

Unfortunately there is no proper circular right the way round GG. Best you can manage is around 3/4 of way around.

Essentially, from just to the west of the `pier` section on the south side to round to the Craigduckie area on the NW, it`s just farmer`s fields. Shame because it has so much potential

That`s a shame. Cheers, Kintos. Maybe one day. You couldn't walk/cycle all the way round Loch Leven until some 10-12 years ago. Oh wait.... was that not partially funded by the EU?

So is it legal/acceptable to fish it without permit as I guess there is no permitted conditions or does it revert to private ownership somehow?

I`m fairly sure it`s now all private land owned by the people developing the wellbeing village. I can`t remember their name but I`m pretty sure they bought Loch Fitty, the Lassodie land art site and some of the land up towards the road from Kelty to Lathalmond/Knockhill from the Forestry Commission. The Northern entrances have big signs up advising drones are in operation. I don`t think they`re bothered about dog walkers and fishers but want to deter quad bikes due to them being in the process of developing the land.

St Ninians is the owner with intention of developing a Eco-Therapy Wellness and Leisure Park development (yeah - me neither πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ).

Also noticed what I think was the butterchurn (was never in) at the Kelty motorway exit has a sign saying it’s going to be a tv studio (also πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ)

It`s National Pride who are the owners, P. I think they`re doing something similar on the west coast. The national witch memorial is going to be on top of the swirl/spiral.

The Butterchurn/Baxter`s is an odd one. The company whose name is on it (Burlington) don`t have any details on what is going on there and seem a bit sketchy. The land to the east of it was going to be a service station but was refused.

That Burlington Group seems a weird one to be based up there. Looks like they specialise in fulfilling the luxury needs of the rich and famous, procuring expensive cars, boats, houses etc and making TV programmes about it. Seems a strange place to have a TV studio with that output based in Kelty (no offence to Kelty)
