 Dental checkups - frequency
Topic Originator: veteraneastender

Mrs.VE is back from her dental checkup and was advised that the next one will be 12 months hence - a ruling from the Scottish government, no more 6 monthly cycle.

This change slipped under my radar - is it common knowledge ?

For NHS patients that is the new norm. I`d happily take a once year check up of it meant I wasn`t having to shell out £440 per year for two check ups and a scale and polish.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Yep, it was changed. NHS dental is a nightmare if you want urgent treatment. I`ve waited three months for an "urgent" filling 🤦‍♂️

They`re keeping under 18s on a 6 month check up though which is a good thing. Sign of the times I`m afraid, need the magic wand to quickly create loads more dentists, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and buildings to host the services they deliver.

Another SNP stealth cut back, they won’t even pay NHS dentists properly

It`s not unique to dentistry. Despite claims otherwise, social care and health are beyond breaking point. Talks of "record funding" are nonsense as they disregard the UK having a growing and aging population, and that inflation rates have pushed everything up in price.

We`re also in this ridiculous position in care where we`re paying more to private companies to provide care than we would if we hired our own staff. Sure it makes shareholders £££ but that`s OUR £££.
