I didn’t know how often folk look at the trading floor forum so thought I’d try here, too.
I’m looking for a one bed flat or two bed house to rent, preferably in Dunfermline but will consider outlying towns, and Edinburgh. I’m working FT, have a 9 yr old cat, I’m a non smoker, a 9 year rental history in one property and a landlord reference. No cc/ccjs. Long term renting and single occupancy. Will pay a bigger deposit for cat. Unfurnished / part furnished.

Thanks Donj. It’s a wee bit out my price range.
Unfortunately the biggest issue is my cat - the search results reduce drastically when I type in “pet friendly / pets considered” 😔

Never quite understood why a pet,which you pay to look after,is a problem.All that I can see needed is a signed acceptance that if they cause damage you pay for repair.
A person with that amount of years of regular payments should be a customer they want.

I’m on zoopla, rightmove, s1homes, OpenRent, onthemarket, housing associations websites every day, Donj with immediate notifications.

I suppose it’s less hassle, no fighting to get things repaired, etc - even if no damage could be a problem for future rentals - ever been in a smoking room in a hotel as a non smoker?
Our cat passed last year and we’re still finding hairs embedded in the furniture that no hoover will get out! 🐈

Went down and saw the guys I know who have flats but all have tennents.One guy has a flat empty but he is selling and has offers in for it.They`ll let me know if they hear of any available.

My eldest in same boat. Just brings cat to mine when notified of inspection.
Rental market has shrunk so much though with rise in interest rates and the hoops landlords have to jump through now.
No substitute to being an owner/occupier. Its a long haul if you are a tenant in your 40`s and beyond.

If you`ve not already, it could be worth getting on the books of the main estate agents.
Depending on income, you could check in with Kingdom Housing. They have a fair few flats and terraced houses in Dunfermline. Probably highly sought after but no harm in checking.
Fife Letting have a nice looking 2 bed in Rose Street.

I’m on most estate agents books including housing associations especially for mid market rents.
Some letting agents don’t tell you if the properties are pet friendly ie the agent advertising the flat in Rose Street. It’s not. 😔

It is and it’s also unfair to think that people who need to rent - because they can’t buy - won’t have pets.
I think there’s now the insistence that landlords have to have pet insurance for their tenants and they simply don’t want that extra expense. Used to be the case you could pay a bigger deposit for a pet.

Could still be worth checking the no pets ones and explaining it`s just a cat and you`ll offer a bigger security deposit to cover any potential damage.

After a three month search I’ve got a flat in Dunfermline toon centre.
