Wondering if Any of you guys have travelled through JFK and got a connecting flight from terminal 4? I`ve booked flights to Nashville and was assuming that the cases would go straight through to the final destination, but apparently, you have to collect your luggage and go through security again. Got a couple of hours from landing to the onward journey, just wondering if anyone had any experience of what it`s like.
Cheers guys

I did it once AGES ago - maybe 1997 - Sept 11.
And even then yeah, bags needed to be collected and rescanned. It was annoying.

All depends on day of week and time of day - the TSA and immigration folks wont care about your connection and will be in no hurry - 2 hours should be enough - you need to get your bags to clear customs and then make sure you drop them in the CORRECT area of drop off - they`ll kindly advise you if you dont :-)
Ive done it regular over the years and never missed a 2 hour connection once - cut it fine a couple of times but always seemed to work out.
You`ll love Nasville its such a cool place - we drive there realtively often for a weekend

Tues-Thurs are the `quieter days` - you should be good most of the business travellers would be getting the 7-8pm flights if they`re heading home
I learned the more I worry and stressed I get in the airport its a vicious cycle - 2 hours will for sure be enough

I’d be like a pig in muck in Nashville - visiting the Hall of Fame and reading about my Country idols Haggard and Jones etc.
Enjoy the experience.

If you have been to the US before and used the visa waiver program then you can use the MPC app to clear immigration quicker.

"Not a country fan, in the slightest, but will visit the HOF for sure mate"
An acquired taste in my case.
The names given to popular genres are just music industry pigeon holes for separating different styles.
Many top name artists in other fields are comfortable in Country Music circles.
Keith Richards for example makes no apologies.

A couple of questions, if I may, mate. Do you have to be using a current ESTA to use this? I don`t have a current one, but have used them before. Also, myself and my daughter have passports, which we`ve used previously to get into America, but my wife and son have new passports, can you use it on them? Also, do you still need to get an ESTA as well.
Cheers bud.

Was on an east USA /Canada tour plus Florida stay 25 years ago, flew with lots connections no hassle ..apart from the last one Washington to Miami .
Checked in then realised after a while we had no boarding card, goes to the desk and they said flight was overbooked!
Then they started announcing various offers, free dinners and cash to tempt folk to cancel and take the next flight, so we got on ok. I was told it was quite common over there to oversell seats like that to take into account no shows etc.
Never experienced that before or since

Yea you will need a current esta to enter the US. You will need one whether using MPC or not. As long as the passports are valid it shouldn’t matter if they are new. You will be able to add all your family to the same submission in the app.

Yeah but it might take a while for registration to come through.
I had been looking into going to Minneapolis this summer but I didn’t realise an ESTA was needed so couldn’t go on my planned time off.

I didn’t want to take the chance as it was very much a last minute decision to go, but it’s good to hear that it’s a quick process.

Make sure you only use the official US government website - there are several unofficial sites that add on an unnecessary fee.
I expect you are aware of course.

That MPC app was incredible, mainly since you go in a different queue which was next to US Citizens - we had 1 family in front and straight through. Could see the usual queue and it was massive.
Straight through customs in 15 mins at Miami (where we once queued for 5 hours to get out).
….bags took ages though 🙄

Had a poor experience with flying Aer Lingus to Toronto via Dublin.
The Edinburgh to Dublin flight was delayed, making it really tight for the connection. Crew took details but I got no help to make the connection once landed - had to run from one terminal to the other. Gate had just closed when I got there.
Then had to find my way back to a service desk to get help. They put me on an Air France flight instead and I was about 6 hours late overall. I was able to claim for EU flight compensation at least.
