…overload on Channel 5 just now, usually set in small town USA with every house decorated like a Santa grotto, six feet of know and plots involving hunky young guy meeting beautiful young woman who just happen to be visiting ..or vice versa!
Just curious yesterday when one popped up titled “Christmas in Scotland” about New York lassie accompanying her dad on a find your Scots ancestry trip. First thoughts … aye this will be some faux brigadoony set up filmed in Hollywood mocked up wee village with faux jocks and fakey accents.
So they duly fly over” and arrive at night in darkened streets with just a measly wee cheap looking Xmas tree in the square…the grumpy local Laird diisnae allow street festivity lights says a local.
The day dawns and as the visitors stroll about I’m thinking this place looks authentic and strangely familiar…..no spoiler for that, however as usual a hunky guy does end up snogging the lassie!

...and Limekilns. They kept the Coorie called the Coorie which was nice publicity for them.
My wife seems to be trying to watch every Hallmark Christmas movie in existence right now and it`s turning me more and more into Scrooge.

It was on this time last year as well. I liked the fact that they used Scottish actors to play the locals and they weren`t all the usual familiar faces.

They`re all the same formula. Trash TV to pass a boring afternoon. The infamous "Green pines grove annual Christmas eve festival of lights Christmas tree decorating contest" is a classic line though.

I think they must have filmed in the Red Lion pub also, looked like it anyway.
One of the characters seemed to spend all day making mince pies and giving them away. Most unlike a Fifer..

Saw a good Christmas movie called Hector. Not Schmaltzy, but good UK film unfolding the life of a down and out at Christmas.
