I usually use gigsky app - cheap and work. Most important thing is to set it up in advance and/or on WiFi though.
Buy through the app and it sets it up for you all pretty easy.

Head to a 3 shop and request USA sim £10 should cover easy 3 weeks or more..used it for years no issues.
