 Minutes silence.

Don’t know if anybody else picked up on it as it wasn’t only at EEP but the minute silence is meant to start after the bugle has finished.
Big Jim and SJ chairman immediately walked off when it ended.
At least there was applause but I’m sure there should have been a silence after it.

Always prefer applause to silence as it allows people to make a choice whether to participate or not without being rude, regardless of what it’s for…

But in truth, I’d rather we left the football for football

I think that was the referee’s fault. He should have blown for the start and finish of the silence after the bugle.

I’m just going by past remembrance games where the actual silence is after the bugle finishes but the announcer should make that clear to fans beforehand.

The ceremony is replayed on the Highlights thread on the Football Forum. Leish and the SJ chairman set off to pick up the wreaths as soon as the bugler stops. That may have pre-empted the ref from signalling the minute`s silence. At the time I was surprised by the way it was ended.

Whether they got the ceremony wrong or not it should be said that everyone inside the stadium was respectful and there’s a lot to be said of that. Usually at least one that shouts something but I never heard anything on Saturday.

Well done to everyone

The impromptu applause from everyone seemed like the correct thing to do irrespective of whether the ref or the announcer maybe got it wrong as everyone joined in. I was confused also as I had expected the silence but I also applaud the support for collectively joining in. Definitely the right thing for everyone to do.
In addition, the Saints fans were excellent in their half time applause to a NW supporter who recently passed away.
