A wee teaser. First, some random facts;
1. My son lives and works in Glasgow,
2. During Covid, he grew a beard.
3.Mrs and I went on holiday in early October,
4. Son went on holiday just before we came home.
5. He came through for the game at lunchtime on Saturday.
6. He and I watched the game together.
7. We went home for a pizza and a beer with the whole family.
8. My daughter asked her brother a question and my wife and I almost fell over with astonishment. 😱
What did she ask him? 🤔

None of the above. For clarity, daughter`s question wasn`t surprising and perfectly sensible. Can`t believe we were caught out by it, especially Mrs Riva as she doesn`t normally miss a trick. 😃

Isn`t this a bit like asking `how long is a piece of string`? There are an infinite number of questions she could have asked.
You say you and your wife were `astonished` but then you say the question `wasn`t surprising and perfectly sensible`. I don`t understand how both these statements can be true.

When did you shave your beard off?
We have a winner, although Aaron Labonte had a good stab at it, realising the clue was in the OP.
Well done, Mike. 👏 👏 👏
Mrs Riva and I were astonished because we never noticed, and our son never let on. It`s maybe more understandable coming from me as my observational skills are not great, but `er indoors never misses a trick.... 😃
Do we have a proper psychologist in the building who can explain in professional terms how it was possible for us to fail to spot such a massive detail? Neither of us can believe it, but it happened, 🤔

As a bearded gent, I`ve had that experience when returning from a holiday when I removed my beard on a whim. My parents didn`t comment either! Mike

I`m confused, GGR. Does that mean your daughter hadn`t seen your son since Covid (which is why she mentioned his lack of beard) but you and your wife had, so were so used to having seen him without a beard that you thought nothing of it and had forgotten that he`d had one during Covid?

My daughter saw her brother the week before he went on holiday, and a week after he got back , approx 4 weeks in total. He shaved his beard off last week after he came home - maybe anticipating a Scottish heatwave? 🤔 He`d had a beard for about 4 years, but my wife and I managed to somehow erase that from our memory banks. Mad, isn`t it? At least his sister spotted it.

You know how I feel about so-called jokey comments about Alzheimer`s, GGR. They`re not funny at all. I recently lost a cousin to it.

Sorry, I didn`t know either about your cousin or your feelings. Otherwise, I`d never have joked about it. Please accept my sincere apologies. I, too, have lost a couple of aunts to this horrible illness, but I have a different approach to it from you. It works for me, but I understand that different people cope in different ways.
Eta. I have removed the offensive remark from my previous post.

Thanks for the deletion. I`m sure I`ve raised this before on here and you said you had a friend who had also called you out about such facetious comments. I must say it`s a strange coping mechanism that involves making fun of someone else`s misfortune.

I didn`t see the comment wee eck, but the ongoing lecture doesn`t seem entirely helpful to me. What`s wrong with leaving it at "thanks for respecting my views" and leaving it at that?
Many have had traumatic things happen to them, and we choose to deal with things in different ways. Dark humour is a well used phrase as it is a common coping mechanism.

If you didn`t see the comment maybe you shouldn`t get involved. I was simply reminding him that this wasn`t the first time I`d mentioned it. It wasn`t my own experience that rankled but the fact that so many people are affected and might be offended.

Fixed it for you, parsmad - very funny. 😁
Hi GG in the study 50% of people missed the Gorilla. When tested on radiologists 85% of them missed it. These cases are really important for human interactions. I work in AI and these studies are really important for machine classified decisions. I once ran a study in automotive electronics and the success rate of human decisions over billions of measurements was less than 5%. At those levels AI is a no brainer. More and more the statistics of psychology are really important to engineering improvements.
