I`m struggling to think of a more ridiculous, real? boxing match-up ever.
If this goes any longer than half a round, I`m giving up on this fighting code and will get hypnotised to like MMA.
Paul is an area level cruiserweight on his absolute best day and AJ despite his recent loss to DDD is an elite level heavyweight and a devastating puncher.
My best bet is that those involved will see sense and this wont happen, if it does I think things could go very bad for Jake.

It will last as long as it takes AJ to connect a straight 1-2 ala Ngannou.
That might be in the first 10 secs, might not be for a couple of rounds, but happen, it will.
Unless of course, there is more jiggery pokery as alleged in the Tyson one, with bigger/softer gloves and contractual non-knockouts…
And yes, as alluded to above, hopefully we can see less of these ‘celebrity’ matches.

10oz gloves, 3 minute rounds.
Puncher`s gloves FFS.
AJ Flattened Ngannou unconscious who at the time was considered the most dangerous man on the planet.
I think Turki Al-Sheikh needs to throw a load of cash at Fury to fight AJ and prevent this impending snuff match from happening.
*AJ must weigh no more than 245lbs, I don`t see how that benefits Jake Paul.

Nah I want to see it happen it’s about time someone wiped the floor with Jake Paul with a bit of luck they have to carry him out the ring instead of him walking out this clown has made boxing an absolute joke with his so called exhibition fights against washed up passed it boxers or guys who retired years ago he needs taught a lesson and if that involves him getting hurt then so be it he wanted this fight so he will have to deal with the consequences

to be honest AJ has looked at his worst/most sluggish when he is bigger. 245 limit will benefit him. it is an absolute farce this is sanctioned though

Is it not more of a White Collar Boxing fight than a pro fight? Using the word exhibition a lot.

Im with Jim White - if he doesn’t end it inside a round (or give him 2) then he is an embarrassment and his career is over in a sham. He’s ended Ngannou, a pro fighter, very quickly - this should be done in 3 punches.

Poor watch really. AJ slow start, Hake Paul just running round the ring for 3 rounds, absolutely gassed by the end of the second, took a dodgey time out in 4th cause he was knackered then AJ finished him pretty easily in the end. Paul looked exhausted when he went down.
Bad thing for AJ was the first two rounds he looked very cautious and slow. Maybe measured, but wasn’t convincing.

Think Joshua knew the script. The people want to see some action, go through the motions for a few rounds and then end it at the moment of your choosing.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I heard Paulie Malignaggi give an interview prior to the fight. He was talking about (and we`ve all probably thought something similar) who claimed that they`d fight Mike Tyson for $1,000,000.
He said any man off the street would never make it to the ring, the dressing room would consume them, the fear would beat them, testing the mouthguard, wrapping the hands.
If somehow they did manage to leave the dressing room without fainting, they`d have the ringwalk, the crowd, the lights, the music.....you`d never make it to the ropes.
Props to Paul for getting to the ring, AJ done his job, hope we see AJ v Fury sometime in 2026.

I thought there was a governing body (the British Boxing Board of Control?) which oversaw boxing and ensured mismatches like this couldn`t happen?

Fight was not in the UK so not their decision, although they had said they would not sanction it hence why it was taken to the USA where it was a sanctioned fight.

Was sanctioned as a heavyweight bout by Floridas fighting commission. Thats why these types of fights will never happen in the UK (except the white collar events by KSI).

I just watched the fight. It wasn`t that bad. I`m not a fan of that Jake Paul at all, so I was looking forward to seeing him humiliated, but I`ve got to say he did okay, despite the obvious gulf in class. He stuck at it even towards the end.
Joshua looked in control the whole time, there was never any danger of him being hurt, I think he could have probably given Paul a few free hits and his best shot wouldn`t really have phased him. There was a moment in the first round where you could see AJ about to take a shot and pull out of it, so I think perhaps at least the initial rounds were stage managed to an extent. If he had wanted to Joshua could have ended the fight whenever he wanted to, probably even just by unloading some body shots on him.
Paul not a very good boxer, but he`s making them both a lot of money. He might need to think about quitting before he gets seriously hurt. There is a huge difference between some rich kid playing at being a boxer and a professional athlete who has dedicated their entire life to get to this level.
I`m hoping that the sums of money being made by these type of fights doesn`t end up with boxing being ruined by these sort of celebrity bouts

As someone who was significantly above the ‘average man in the street’ - in boxing at least - nowadays, sure, I would.
In Tyson’s prime?
Absolutely no fukkkin way!!! - he would have literally killed me - deid.
When you talk about ‘average men in the street’ - Tyson’s speed and power would have done permanent damage with one punch, and a combination would fatal.
Remember Micky in Rocky II?

Fortunately prime Mike was operating in a time where the movies were way less realistic than boxing reality.

Can’t honestly believe Paul thinks he has a world title fight coming his way in the near future credit where credit is due though he was man enough to set up and challenge aj but as soon as the first bell rang it was like he knew just how far out his depth he was and it was more evident when he got dropped in the 6th

A payday and it keeps AJ relevant (ish) in the media spotlight for a potential Fury match despite it being a good few years gone from when it should have happened.
No coincidence he was on social media hinting about coming out of `retirement` earlier this week.

AJ supposedly fighting a kickboxer next(Rico Verhoeven), clearly on a cash grab before he walks away.
If he was serious about being world champ again or preparing properly for Fury he would be in against better opposition but he knows another defeat and he is done. It must be 5/6 years since he beat a high level opponent?
For me the Fury/ Joshua ship has sailed and it doesn`t hold much interest for me. What does it prove now? Both well past their best.

Verhoeven would be a very good warm up fight to a Fury fight. Extremely experienced prize fighter. He’ll give him a workout without being perceived as to much of a risk.
Had it been a kickboxing match, my money would probably go on Verhoevan - that was his game. Just not the same money in kickboxing
