This needs a new thread since our Bob has left the scene early. But wow, Rory McIlroy, what a player, 12 under after first two rounds, 6 ahead of the field. Also a strong representation of Ryder cup favourites in the top 6, including Justin Rose, Shane Lowry and Tommy Fleetwood, with Tyrrell Hatton not far behind. This tournament never fails to produce the goods.

My bet on Bryson has went for a birdie...or should that be bogey?

Three Brits in the top four now and into the last 8 holes. McIlroy blowing hot and cold. How about Justin Rose?

Congrats to Rory McIlroy! I love it when somebody beats the Yanks in their own backyard. They`ve done it often enough to us.

Exactly how I felt eck. I kept shouting "in the lake Scottie" or "in the trees Patrick" whenever Scheffler or Reed teed off. It was very competitive right to the end. Well done Rory. I think we`ll be seeing him again at the Scottish open but maybe Bob McIntyre will be back in form by then.

After having half a dozen or so right in the mix and looking like a last hole decider it was a wee bit of an anti climax in the end for me, fair play to McIlroy though.

heard a stat on radio that Scheffler going a full weekend at Augusta without a drop shot is the first time this has happened at the Masters

That’s a great stat. It’s hard to think that with all the great players and champions over the years that not one of them has went bogey free for the final 36 holes.
