 The rise of English nationalism

It`s maybe just me, but the World Cup seems to have magnified how "lost" England is. In contrast to the Scots with their bagpipes, kilts and dancing, England is bringing...songs about WW2.

I was listening to Talk Sport and the ignorance towards Scotland as a country was so incredible that it must have been intentional (essentially questioning if you ever actually heard bagpipes music outside national games - clearly never visited any Scottish high street!).

Has English culture been diluted so much that they are now lost, and is this what`s feeding these rose-tinted views of "old England"?

Trust me Jake, we want it to be about the bagpipes and kilt and the heeland dancing, but the Zenith was us singing a song from 700 years ago.

It broke sound records.

Do you want our fellow islanders to get out the sticks and start Morris dancing and taking bad penalties?

They can`t compete with us.

Talksport is a fun but irritating listen at the best of times, but some of the down talking of Scotland has been cringe from some of them. Although some of them (Olivia Buzaglo) have been turned just by our fans behaviour in the states.

People like Jason Cundy and Andy Goldstein are deliberate wind up merchants, and its that glaringly obvious that anyone that takes offence at it requires an injection of a sense of humour.

Now, the general English media is pretty cringeworthy as a whole. But then they question why Scotland fans want them to fail…..and thats not including the sporting rivalry, they are just insufferable.

Scotland fans have done the norm over there - made a name for themselves in a good way and should really win a Fifa prize for it 🤷🏻‍♂️ it will certainly boost our economy over Englands.

‘Doe, a deer, a female deer….’

Oh wait a minute. That’s a song about the Anschluss. That’s a little too close to a WW2 song.
