 Idiots in cars

There`s been two very high profile chases resulting in deaths recently. Yesterday there was a police chase through Dunfermline involving the car being chased smashing into 4 cars and a bus. I happened to be passing and saw the aftermath. I know joyriding isn`t new, but why does there seem to have been a sudden spate of idiots driving so dangerously?

I suspect there is a strong correlation to those youngsters driving around stinking the place out with weed as well.

And I expect the high of getting some social media feedback is giving them a hard-on and encouraging this activity.

Did you see the footage of one of the guys from Middlesbrough in a car which they had taken into a public park and they were shouting "ram him" at a young guy walking back from school? Absolute dregs of society.

God knows what, so called parents they have got. We all did daft things when we’re young, but would never dream of doing the things,on the scale, they call fun now. They are Hell Bent ,on hurting people.

The News should stop giving them air time. Give all the air time to the 2 officers that died and just stop mentioning the 5 morons in he other car.

Its also not just kids that are bad drivers - in the last 2 days alone Ive had an old man pull out onto a main Aberdeen city centre roundabout the wrong way in front of me (in a 14t truck) then continue to drive round it the wrong way then today nearly witnessed a 3 car pile up on the M9/M876 slip road as all 3 couldn’t wait to get into the outside lane off the slip…..

And thats barely anything of what you see every day out driving for a living.

The difference to me is everyone makes mistakes (some more than others!) but these guys are intentionally going out to cause bother. Seems incredible to me that guys in their late teens and early 20s think it`s "cool". Absolute pleb behaviour.

I’m wondering whether police should give chase through built up areas ? Someone could have been killed.

I`m sure time of day was a factor, unlikely they would have done it at 3pm, I suspect.

And if they see the cops, I can`t imagine they would pop down to 20mph once the cops are out of sight.

Quite galling that the folk now being arrested and charged, if found guilty, might avoid the "go straight to jail" card because the jails are close to being full.

I`ve never understood why we don`t have the equivalent of chain gangs. For less serious crimes they could have a similar punishment to jail in that you lose your job and life but instead of being in jail you`re on an ankle monitor at home and spend your day litter picking or painting over graffiti.

Because they won`t invest in technology that works, or people to monitor it.
