Before they injure a player or official ,3 time they`ve thrown stuff at folk on the pitch in 45 minutes .
If you can`t go to a game of football without throwing objects at folk on the pitch football is not for you .

Aye, close the stand. 99% of the stand absolutely fine but make them all suffer because of a couple of idiots.

Grow up.

Should be easily identifiable and can find seat numbers - ban the ST holder for that seat šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø that will generate a response of some sort from the person whos paid for itā€¦..

the lighter that hit Sibbald could easily have lead to the section being closed anywayā€¦.

My child couldnā€™t breathe after their smoke bombs. They create atmosphere but Iā€™d happily close it tomorrow and install a music system that plays a repetitive drum beat for 90 minutes. Anyone thinking about chucking stuff on a football park should be jailed or take an absolute leathering. What ever they prefer .

Wouldn`t suggest closing it but they need to watch. The smoke bombs are just annoying and there`s no need to be chucking stuff. Keep it to the drumming and singing as that`s what keeps the players and the other fans going.

The thing is Jake that the stand will end up being closed because of this behaviour. We canā€™t afford to police that stand so itā€™ll be a decision the club are forced in to unfortunately.

It should be closed purely for the amount of wee pvssies that go there. The way the lad Fotheringham strolled right up to them and shushed them up was embarrassing. If they were a decent crew they would have ran on the park and booted his melt in. That wouldn`t have happened from an away player in front of the cage in the 90s. Woeful stuff from the North West. The young fans in the NW could either be an asset to the club for years to come . Or drag the clubs name down into the mire .
The way it`s going just now ,it can only be a matter of time till we are fined, and that`s cash the club can I`ll afford to lose . Sadly, at the moment , the latter seems to be the most likely .

Couple of points..
Thereā€™s a family section for a reason. If youā€™re taking a child, common sense would be donā€™t sit anywhere near the NW.
ā€œInstall a music systemā€ you should be banned from east end for 10 years for that idea alone.

Lots of clubs use fine mesh to prevent objects reaching the pitch and it doesnā€™t really obstruct viewing too much.
Might be an avenue worth exploring.

There`s no justification for it all. Please, just stop chucking stuff on the park.

It`s inevitable that people will be considering closing either that end section or the whole of the NW as we seem to have these incidents at most of our Friday games. That thought makes me really sad, as I`ve been a regular in the NW for about 25 years. I hated it the last time we got chucked out of there in 2011 and could quite easily have given up on football entirely if it wasn`t for taking my Dad to games. Not nice to be having those thoughts again, and this time purely as a result of other fans who cannot stop themselves from chucking stuff on the park.

It`s up to the guys in the North West, to self police , as the club won`t be paying for Police Scotland officers.
Now whether it`s pointing the guys out or telling them to stop , it`s got to come from within.
Fair play to the United players who didn`t make a thing of it .

Really, muppets seem to think your more of a fan if you get really upset at players managers and can throw things abuse them , it`s not on and just because you pay Ā£20 to get in ,that does not allow you to shout anything and behave how you like , if you think it does ,football is not for you .

So it`s OK for 200 young men to give it out to players throughout a game but as soon as a player gives some back , its toys out the pram , the young boys in the NW undoubtedly bring an atmosphere to the game but I just wished at times they would grow the french connection up ....throwing stuff on the pitch isn`t acceptable and never will be

Fotheringham was getting pelters all game, likely because of him being closest to the NW in the first half and his call for a penalty early on.

Thought it was all over the top and throwing items on the pitch is never acceptable.

Credit to Dundee Utd though, not for the celebration which I didnā€™t see a problem with, give it, be prepared to take it and all that but they didnā€™t make a scene of the lighter incident, Grimshaw picked it up and threw it off the pitch, couldā€™ve made a bigger deal, taken it to the ref etc.

"OK" or not, if a player`s behaviour could incite crowd trouble, it should be dealt with. Players are expected to rise above it and lead by example.

It`s one thing to celebrate in front of away fans with your teammates if that`s near the goal, but to run over, on your own, just to goad the away fans is something else.

No excuses for anything being thrown on the park. Even back in the day when fans brought carry outs into the East End, they reserved them for the opposing fans and not the players.

You`re missing my point.

Should those fans get upset by his actions? No, not really. If they can`t give it out, etc.

[I]Did the fans get upset with his actions, leading to "crowd trouble" (surging forward, requiring stewards to get involved, throwing missiles)? Yes.

Should a player be discouraged or encouraged from approaching away fans and acting in a provocative manner? Discouraged.

Are there any comparable situations where players are discouraged from approaching fans due to crowd safety concerns? Yes. Players are discouraged from jumping advertising boards.

How are they discouraged? Yellow card.

The energy should go into supporting the team and not reacting to situations on the pitch and throwing things. We would gain so much more using their enthusiasm and passion in a positive way to get behind the team when the chips are down. These sorts of things are misdirected and ultimately don`t do the players on the park any favours.

Donā€™t chuck things on the pitch but bring the pyros as they look great imo. Folk know the NW is the most active at EEP for atmosphere and the more the better imo.

I see the Crewe v Notts County match was held up for 13 minutes and police involved, because the linesmen refused to run the line in front of the County fans due to verbal abuse and things being thrown at them.

Most weeks, most of the time, most of the young guys in the NW are great. But they have to nip in the bud the idea that throwing stuff onto the pitch is just a lark, before it becomes the norm.

Players/the PFA would never accept this ridiculous proposal. If players are going to be punished for ā€˜banterā€™ with fans, fans would have to be punished for any of the banter/abuse they dish out. It would just result in a nonsensical situation. Iā€™m firmly in the ā€˜donā€™t dish it out if you canā€™t take itā€™ camp. The issue, in this case, lies solely with those that were goading the United player for most of the game - not the player himself.

Would be a totally different situation if there were any offensive gestures towards the fans. But shushing people that have been goading you? Nah, thatā€™s not even remotely an offence.

The lack of sanction (or at least public sanction) has clearly emboldened the youngsters that sit in the nominal family section of the Norrie - Cup full of liquid was thrown towards the players as they were coming off at half time (not sure who it was aimed at but it narrowly missed a Dunfermline member of staff walking alongside the digital advertising hoardings). Another DAFC employee spotted the guy who threw it and tried to get the stewards to help him in vain, before the employee a security guy ran up into the stand to give chase. Sad to see.

1. We might need to stop the youngsters congregating at the front of the stand where they`d normally ask for autographs, yes.
2. If there had been suitable and public punishments of those who did it in the North West then they probably would have thought twice.

Well from what I was told today from a steward who was on duty in the NW last Friday some numpty dropped a smoke bomb which rolled down the stairs and once the culprit was identified on cctv (young lad in this case) him and his dad were both ejected and letā€™s not kid ourselves on here you can buy these things on Amazon but they require proof of age on delivery so itā€™s obvious that itā€™s someone who should really know better that is clearly buying them for the young team but so much for the supposed enhanced security checks at the turnstiles now we all know g4s/saltire donā€™t have the power to search a minor so why not just for 3 maybe 4 games have police outside the NW to search folk ā€œproperlyā€ on the way in surely its better to take the hit over a few games and nip it in the bud then let it go on as clearly self policing isnā€™t working

All fine and well them being ejected, but have the STs now been suspended due to breaking ground regulations? Remember, the NW is a ST only stand these days tooā€¦

I`ve been going to football games for the best part of 20 years and have never felt the need to throw anything on the pitch. It`s not that difficult.

I got a clear view of the kid in Norrie and its aftermath. He looked about 14, and was smirking after he did it. It wasn`t done in rage or frustration, he looks to have done it purely because he could.

Failing to see where this is acceptable behaviour tbh.

If these idiots don`t stop throwing stuff they`ll either be banned or EVERYONE will be enduring annoying and time consuming searches.

It`s quite simple:

Stop - Throwing objects, bringing in flares.
Continue - Singing, drumming.

"All fine and well them being ejected, but have the STs now been suspended due to breaking ground regulations?"

Assuming the perpetrator is under 18 - it`s a criminal offence for a minor to possess fireworks/pyro, that`s before bringing them into EEP.

If the parent supplied them then he/she is also breaking the law.

Iā€™d happily leather the lot of them. Joking aside that area needs policed. Itā€™s only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.
