Watched the Utd game there, lovely seeing them lose but in fairness some absolutely horrendous decisions going against them. Referee was apalling.

My friend is a Morton supporter and they were like us with injuries etc up until about 2 weeks ago , that`s some of their injured players getting back now ,
How Bad were United and it`s not the first time of late the have been pretty ordinary
And Airdrie managed to do what we couldn`t do in 5 attempts is Beat Raith over 90 minutes
4th Airdrie 4 points in front of us , played a game more
5th Morton 2 points in front of us , played the same amount of games as us
down in 7th place ICT sneaking up on us 2points behind us but played a game more
So lot`s to play for ( but we need a fit team )

Morton have turned a corner for sure, we’ve picked up max points from them so far so when you think about 2nd half of the season we need to keep that going or we’ll be well down..

Quite an amazing stat, that. When we beat them at EEP, in what was arguably our best performance of the season, some fans opined that Morton were easily the poorest team in the Championship. I thought that was a bit disrespectful to Morton and also devalued our team`s performance. This opinion gained more traction when Moffat bagged 2 early games at Cappielow and we held on for another 3 pts.
My own view is that there`s very little between most of the teams in the Championship and that - at full strength - any team can beat any other, with a slice of luck. Morton appear to have had some help from the match officials today. They seem to like playing at Tannadice, too. When United were last in this league, I think Morton beat them 5-0. It didn`t stop United from being promoted all the same.

There`s far too much negativity around here. I rely on highlights and forums so obviously I pay a great deal of attention to what is said by those who watch the entire 90 minutes.
Surely the biggest issue has been Benedictus? He is the captain, the keystone of our defence who makes Mehmet look less jittery and also commands all the crosses into our box. He also allows Comrie and Edward to attack down the flanks with confidence they are being covered. Everyone of these players has looked less since he was out of the side.
That applies also to Hamilton and Otoo, possibly our most effective players this season, who can carry the ball forward and push our opponents on to the back foot. This problem of us sitting back and reacting, rather than taking the initiative, comes across in so many posts on here and has been an issue since Bene was out of the side. We are one paced and reluctant to hit the front men early, even although we have two lively target men in McCann and Jakub, the latter who can play well on the half turn. Wighton is an enigma but does have a penalty box instinct the others lack. We lack pace from midfield but Todd turns his runs well. Hostler`s ability to turn defences out wide has been a serious loss.
So we are where we are. If none of the injured players return soon then we are in trouble; the results today were hardly helpful. To me Benedictus is the key: he is a leader on the pitch and releases our stronger players to take the fight to our opponents. If he cannot regain fitness then we may end up in a relegation battle. If he gets back in the side then we can push for a promotion place.

It`s always good to hear your views on the football, sammer. I agree with you about Bene. He is such a key player and leader. He was saying last night that the results of a scan will determine the prognosis of his latest injury. We must hope he returns sooner rather than later.
Of the other injuries I would say those to Todd and KRH have been the cruellest. I was really looking forward to seeing how they fared in the Championship. Todd looked like he was on the point of recovering his form of last season when this new injury struck. Again he is waiting on a specialist`s assessment and I just hope he can recover in time to make a significant contribution before the end of the season. KRH has suffered unbelievable bad luck. If he does return soon I hope his confidence has not been dented by his misfortune.
I think the outcome of the injuries to these three players will have a major impact on how the season pans out.

Very good post. I suspect some of our injured players will take little part in the rest of our season and, even if they do, they will not be up to speed. We need a few players in this January.
