Fisher for Welch-Hayes is a fairly solid replacement, so that`s not a disaster but not having him on the bench isn`t ideal. Benjamin could come on of need be of course.

Excellent result getting 3 points in the bag.
We were only as good as arbroath let us be today.
I.e first half wasn`t us being Excellent more like arbroath were rank rotten. 2nd half was more of a combo of them being better and us taking the result for granted.
Kane and jakubiak will work as a front pairing but only if bodies going forward commit. Both them can hold up a ball which is pleasing to see.
It`s paramount we get MFW signed for next year, Kane too. If we start next season with this squad we could be up there for the promotion places.
We might still make the playoffs this year.
Happy days.

We made hard work of that!!!! The fact we couldn`t defend from set pieces is a concern. McKenna coming off was a plus as he was causing us problems.
Positive first half hopefully Allan and Hamilton won`t miss too much games we take the 3 points back down the road and back on the training ground Monday.

Yes, my first visit to Gayfield was a happy one. Brilliant first half in the sunshine
Not so brilliant second half in the shade but again we won away from home. Arbroath looked like pushovers in the first half but came alive in the second. Like several other teams in this league they know how to foul and get away with it. The knee in Chris Kanes back trick was particularly viscious. Makes me more glad we beat them.

They went for it 2nd with added height and marginally favourable conditions. We rarely won headers in our own box.
So, for hanging on for so long after they got the 2nd so early the guys deserve some praise because we were under pressure against dodgy ref. decisions. They did do their best to shut up shop.
I think if we had gone for it in the 1st half we could have got 4 because they were nowhere and we tapping the ball around at will.
We hit the bar and should have scored a couple more.
I would have taken this result before the game.

Would definitely have taken any win before kick off . To go from 3 going on 5 goals up , to biting our nails for half an hour to hang on for the win is just ridiculous tho . Where did he get all the stoppage time from .
Well done for getting it over the line , and maybe a lesson learned from that 2nd half .

It would be outstanding trolling to not beat the Rovers all year then put them out the play offs 😂
This would make my week/month/year/life 😆

We do seem to struggle most times we get a 2-goal lead, but thankfully we managed to hang on to get a really big win. First half was pretty good from us - after a fairly open start where both sides had a couple of chances, we got on top and scored when on top. Good effort to react and place the shot accurately. Well on top from going a goal up until half-time.
Nicely hit free kick for the second. The placement looked absolutely perfect, just inside the post. As he was running up to take it, I muttered to myself that I fancied him to score, as just looked like the body shape was really good.
There had been a bit of wind in the first half but not enough to be a concern, though at times the ball was holding up when Abroath went long and it was difficult for our defenders to judge the flight of the ball. After the restart for the second half, the wind noticably got a bit stronger and that allowed them to play a lot of high balls that kept us in our own half. Conditions were fine, but I do think Arbroath got the better of them.
I`m struggling to decide if the second half was really bad or if we were generally OK but somehow just lost two awful goals from corners. Either way, I think they deserve credit for getting switched back on to see out the game, and get the job done when it really mattered.
I also want to give Joe Chalmers some credit for helping with that. I think we were better after he came on, and he won several important headers and had a number of other good moments in his own box late in the game. He was always the focal point when McPake tried to play that awful passy rubbish (thankfuly now abandoned, and hopefully never to be seen again) and I think he just isn`t quite good enough to do that job in a team playing that way. However, those last few minutes today showed that he can be effective when he`s allowed to just do the basics and his influence in guiding his team through that spell at the end was important. It was nice to see that he can still offer something to the team, even with a different way of playing.
41 points would be enough to stay up most seasons, but the mark might be a bit higher this year with so many teams on similar points totals.
Have we used up our Craig Napier quota for the season? I hope so. He wasn`t the absolute clown that he normally is, but still has a habit of always being quite annoying. The 5 minues extra in the first half were fair enough, but really no idea were he got more than 7 minutes in the second half. I just find him to be a bad referee generally and I`ll be relieved not to see him again this season.

We actually played some really good stuff through the midfield in the first half although all three goals came from set plays. In the second half Arbroath just went for it with long balls down the channels. It wasn`t pretty but put us off our stride. We did well to steady the ship after their second goal as there was still about half an hour to play. If they adopt the same tactics from the start on Tuesday night it will be interesting to see how Airdrie cope with the aerial bombardment.
I think in the last three games we have scored seven goals and only one has been scored by an outright striker. It just proves that our lack of goals wasn`t down to lacking a striker. If the team plays well scoring opportunities pop up all over the field. Four games into the fourth quarter of games we have nine points from them. That`s the total we gained from all nine fixtures in the second quarter.
That was the same ref as we had three weeks ago at Kirkcaldy. I lost count of the number of fouls against their defenders for going into the back of Kane but there was only one yellow card given - to KRH for kicking the ball away after he awarded Arbroath a free kick.

You can`t prove something as fact when it`s based on subjective analysis and hypothesis. However, if we just take that to be your opinion rather than proven fact, I`d still take issue with it.
Chris Kane had a really good first half today. His movement and touch were very good indeed and he showed an ability at forward play that we`ve rarely seen from our other players this season. It`s true that chances are more likely to come if the team is playing well, but ability at forward play is a significant part of the team playing well. Good forward play is not purely about that player scoring goals himself though, of course, it`s an important part of it. It`s all about the overall contribution to the team and I think the probability of us scoring from a given situation is generally going to be higher with a forward like Chris Kane on the park than it is without him. So, although it wasn`t the only issue, the lack of a player like that was certainly a big contributing factor to us struggling to score.
AS an aside, people who think a forward should be judged only on the number of goals scored are wrong. But that`s just my opinion, not proven fact.

Thought Chris Kane was excellent first half and showed his experience throughout.
The amount of free kicks he won us, the way was very similar to that of Harry who used to get ridiculed for doing it whilst in the EPL.

Just to be clear, everything in my post was my opinion apart from the fact about the yellow card. Kane certainly offers a different option from the other forward players we have. I`m not sure his presence made it more likely Allan would score from that free kick though - and he wasn`t playing when we scored three against United.

As I`ve said many times, football is a game of probability. If I`m right that we`re more likely to score with Kane on the park, it doesn`t mean the probability of goals scored without his involvement is zero. Also, if one player helps us get in good positions in the opposition half, there`s more chance of winning free kicks there. That increases the probability of us scoring from a free kick, regardless of how the one we scored from came about.
Like many things in life, football is probabilistic rather than deterministic, and that`s also why it`s fair to say that luck or breaks of the ball make a difference in tight games. You can play well, but all you can do is try to improve the probability in your favour as far as possible. But it`s never 100% or 0%.
Against Dundee Utd, Jakubiak had a great game in a forward area. He didn`t score but was hugely influential. Again, someone able to play well in a forward area contributed hgely to us playing well, scoring goals and winning.
Anyway, it was clearly wrong to say `proves that our lack of goals...` because if it really was proved that would make it factual. But, if it`s accepted that it was inappropriate to use that phrase, that`s fair enough.

While crosses caused us problems Mehmet`s lack of claiming them wasn`t the problem.
1st goal KRH`s man got the better of him. Imo he is too lightweight for being in the box, he should be at the top of the pitch awaiting our breakaway.
2nd goal is down to competing for 1st and 2nd balls with conviction. The only criticism of Mehmet is his lack of movement across his line. He can be static at times.

Agree, KRH shouldn’t be given any defensive tasks at corners other than being on a post

The fact most of our goals are coming from players other than our strikers has to show the ones we had previous to kane weren`t hitting the standard required. They literally are only employed to score goals and none of them have scored over 8. McCann is our top scorer with 7 in 31. according to the BBC.
Further evidence of this was jak and McCann missing 2 sitters on Saturday.
