Problem is goal difference between the teams, effectively another point to Airdrie.
Chances looking very slim but let’s see how this game finishes and what happens Saturday, anything but a W then we’re finished for the season.

Fair play the Airdrie, they run us close in the games last season although we won the league at a canter. They have come on leaps and bounds this season. McCabe has done very well. We will need to beat them on Saturday to have any chance now. Airdrie will fancy their chances against Partick and Raith in the playoffs
Attendance at Starks Park, for an important game in the race for the title? 3046.
They are a wee team, they must have made a huge gamble on promotion. I`d be amazed if those crowds can sustain that size of squad

Frustrating when you think what could’ve been had we not had those injuries, I’d reckon we’d be safely in the playoffs.
For the rest of the season, we have to win out which is very unlikely but if you had to try do it, hard pushed to pick a better set of fixtures.
Airdrie then have Thistle who will have something to play for, as they’d want their second leg at home. Then it’s Dundee Utd so we ideally need the league to not be sewn up by then.
Still glimmers of hope.

Obviously Airdrie’s win tonight puts them in pole position and favourites to get to the play offs. Clearly to have a chance we need to win on Saturday. However if we can win by say 3 goals this would wipe out much of Airdrie’s goal difference advantage (a 6 goal swing) which we could then further claw back if we can keep winning and they start losing .

A win on Saturday and it`s 3 points out with 3 to play. So it`s all to play for.
Morton will be thinking the same thing on Friday with United visiting. If Morton win and the Pars beat Airdrie, Morton is only 4 points out.
Teams will be keen to get into the playoffs with the likelihood that Rovers will fold like a cheap blanket.

Even Partick aren`t safe in the playoffs depending on results.
IF we win on Saturday and Raith beat Partick, the gap to thistle is 5.
The following Sat Partick play Airdrie. An Airdrie win in that and they go 3rd and we would be 2 pts behind Partick with 2 games to go.
Could potentially be a cracking finish to the season.
The flame still burns

And we`ve managed to beat this `proper team who know how to win games` twice and will have at worst an even record against them if they beat us on Saturday. Obviously we`ll have had the better of the games between the sides if we get anything from the game. There`s not much in it between most of the teams, but they`ve managed a good run recently that looks like being enough. Whoever gets the last playoff place will absolutely have deserved it.

5th or 6th would be a fine finish given the difficulties we`ve had to endure.
I`m pleased that we`ve more than proved that on our day we`re a match for anyone. And for once we have a squad that contains people that might genuinely develop while they`re with us. Otoo, Fisher, Todd and KRH in particular should kick on.
Excited for next season but not given up hope on 4th yet. Win on Saturday and we`re right in it.

I used to wrap myself in knots predicting this, that and the next thing. Ultimately, you just need to take things one week at a time and relax a bit. People were prolapsing only 4 or 5 weeks ago at the absolute certainty of us being relegated and look where we are.
Even if we draw on Saturday it`s entirely feasible that Airdrie lose away to Partick next week and we put a couple past Queens. That leaves us 3 behind with the next fixtures Caley at home for us and Airdrie potentially hosting a Dundee United looking to seal the league.
Ultimately any result seems plausible from week to week and you`ll take years off your life stressing about it. I learned to accept that a while ago following the pars! 😂

It`s a very small league, but it must be that almost every team has taken points off every other team in the league, with the exception of Airdrie against Ayr as referred to previously.
There will be twists and turns to come, and it will be a tough call to predict the final league placings.
