Former Pars keeper has sadly passed away aged 75. I’m sure older fans will have some stories to share.
RIP Gier.

Joined the pars early 70`s ,If I recall correctly we couldn`t find a big enough bed for him in the town, think there was a press picture of him in a bed with his feet sticking out the bottom :):):) RIP Gier

That’s really ****. Big Geir was a hero of mine when I first started watching them, along with Graham Shaw

Any fellow auld farts remember the Scottish Cup 1/4 final v Dundee United when the Pars were 1-0 up with the referee checking for full time on his watch ?
Big Gier got a hold of the ball and instead of launching it into the far terracing (he could kick long range from hand) he put it upfield straight to a United player.
It was immediately punted back into the penalty area where the Arabs left winger, Tommy Traynor, nipped in to equalise.

Lost the replay 0-4 at Tannadice.
Big Gier was a decent keeper.

Very sad news. Fondly remembered.
I babysat his boy back around 1974.
He was over with his son maybe 15 years ago and we all met up again. It was a special day.
Thoughts are with the family.

I remember it well as I`d put £10 on the Pars at 7/2 and could feel the winnings in my pocket when the Arabs equalised. They went on to reach the final only to be scudded 3-0 by Celtic, I think.
Big Gier was a standout in an average side and definitely one of our better keepers since I started watching the Pars in 1963.
RIP Big Man.
Not your average Sunday League player.
