It’s all take at the moment. Not bothered about the open session but why the 3rd kit? We can’t supply enough away kits and have to wait weeks for them, no funds getting put into the squad to help it and here they are asking us for more money.

That`s still nothing to do with unveiling the 3rd kit. I don`t think we need one, but it`s a thing now and has clearly been ordered months ago.
Should the club just put some stock in the shop and do nothing to promote it? That would seem a poor business decision.
I`d go the other way. There`s plenty to be disappointed or annoyed about re DAFC at the moment. However, this isn`t one of them. It more smacks of a mindset that everything the club do is going to be wrong - and that dilutes the credibility of any criticism you make.

As said above, can’t get the absolute belter of away kit but yet they release a 3rd kit??
I simply do not understand why the club only ordered the same amount of away tops as last season from the supplier, around 500 I believe. For a fan base of around 4.5/5k at most games.
Any true Pars man within the club should have known that away kit was gonna be a seller, I confidently say they coulda ordered double the supply and it woulda been near enough been a sell out.
They’ve missed a trick, cause give 6-8 weeks time when they expect to get the re-stock, the novelty will have wore off and folk might not be interested in buying no more, especially if the team is in a gutter.
Can also confirm I know at least two board members that won’t be at the game this coming Saturday due to holidays. Convenient.

Not sure why they didn’t release the away strip much earlier and put it on preorder so they knew what volume they were going to need to cater for initial demand plus a surplus for the shop.
I’m not too fussed about the third strip, they did the same last year, so don’t have an issue, if people want to buy it they’ll buy it.
I guess it’s the timing of it given the circumstances, a lot of chat about having a thin squad, rumours of administration and fans wanting some clarity on the position and they post an article up promoting an open day.
Thats probably what’s miffed people off more than the actual concept itself.

It really depends who’s going on holiday. I’d expect cook to take his holiday right after the transfer window closes but this might be the right time of year for other board members to take their holiday if they’ve got anything to do with the running of the club. If they’re just board members without any say on how the club runs then it doesn’t matter a bit if they’re their or not.
I know fans are frustrated but the clubs still got to do what it’s got to do in regards to selling strips etc. It’s the absolute silence until we get a cookie cutter update that tells us nothing that is the problem.
The guddle of the away strip sales is just a bit ridiculous. I would have bought that away strip but I’ve not ordered it yet and I won’t be any time soon because I’m no spending that much money to wait that long for a football top that should be readily available since it’s only just been released.

Is there any expenditure that fans incur which couldn`t be branded as `fleecing`? We all know that anything connected to football is overpriced but all these transactions are normal commercial dealings where the buyer can opt not to participate.
The other consideration is that the board and CEO have a duty to try and maximise the club`s revenue. Presumably the third kit does that or they wouldn`t sell one. What would be the reaction if they ignored this potential source of income, especially in the current climate?

The problem you have is we are doing terribly on the park and anything we do off it is going to be met with criticism by some. If we had made a few more signings and had a good start to season it would have been met with a more positive response.

Yeah you`re right there doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. There is a difference between trying to see both sides and just pretending everything is rosey and pretty while coming across rather naive.
Cook is paid to run the club and at the minute he is running the club into the ground with his contradictions on who is actually financing the shambles down at rosyth as this seems to be his go to excuse when asked about any financial situation. We have seen our stadium fall into a state of disrepair and a really poor matchday experience which was also another thing he likes to harp on about. Let`s not forget we have a team who are guaranteed to be relegation favorites ( or in my opinion dead certs to go down) if we continue to neglect the needs with quality required for this division. And also signing a striker who has yet to complete 90 minutes of football who was our top target. All of this while rising season ticket costs and walk up tickets. We were joint second highest season ticket prices last season behind Dundee United limped to safety and our board decided to increase the prices this year? Which I`m sure fans wouldn`t mind if there was clear development but we sold someone who was by far our best player and haven`t strengthened in areas of need.

Honestly why do you bother? Maybe you should take a break.

That sounds like a good scam. Pay over £1.6m into a club so they can take money out of it!
The problem is we don`t actually know how much autonomy David Cook has. Some CEOs are given a lot of latitude whilst others are just expected to carry out the strategy of the board.
The board have actually not stinted on the playing budget when the need has arisen. During the relegation season they gave Peter Grant enough scope to buy players and when that didn`t work out they let John Hughes build virtually a new squad in the January transfer window. Similarly last season when the injury crisis was at its worst they financed the acquisition of guys like MFW, MWH and Kane which probably saved us from relegation.
That may be why they are reluctant to splash the cash just now. Football clubs are labour-intensive and the players` wages will be a big cost so it`s not surprising they`re trying to control them. Maybe their CFO will come up with other areas that can yield economies without affecting the squad numbers. There are a lot of unanswered questions but that`s no reason to just assume the answers are the ones that suit our interpretation of things.

Maybe this is my ignorance however; Why do we have a 3rd kit? What is the reason?
I know it’s probably to fleece money out of us supporters however is there any other genuine reason for a 3rd kit?
We are not in any cups or anything special for it. Just don’t see the point unless I am missing something :)
No body is fleecing anybody ,it`s a product avaliable ,you either buy or you don`t.

I just like to hear both sides` point of view before forming an opinion. It`s clearly an alien concept to many on here. I`m as frustrated as anyone else at the poor communication but I`m not going to pre-judge anything. Less than two weeks ago we were heading for Administration apparently.
`Rubbish they are concerned as there seems to be more questions than answers in regards to our financial situation while powers at be keep cashing their rather large paychecks`.

There isn`t any assumption in my post. We currently don`t have a back up keeper surely that would be looked as essential but when we travel to games without a doctor who knows anymore.

I thought you were assuming Cook was running the club without recourse to the board. You`re also assuming we`ll be relegated after two games. I thought it had been established that it was the home club`s responsibility to provide a doctor.
I note you side-stepped all the other points I made.

Is it not a good thing to have choices we all have the opportunity to buy any or all the strips or even none, no one is forcing anyone to buy kit. This is just grumbling for grumbling sake.

Fans don`t have to buy any kit or merchandise. Whatever happened to free will?
It became a classic Rush song on the Permanent Waves album.

Wee Eck makes some fair points
Kids also just can`t have everything they want. If you can afford to get one kit they can chose the one they like the best. This may require a bit of delayed gratification (no bad thing) as the kids will then have to wait for the second and third kits to be released before deciding which one to pick.
I would be interested to know how much having a third kit boosts revenue for the club because surely we don`t really need a third kit. I would also be interested to know how many people actually buy all three kits anyway.
If needed, couldn`t we just use a third or second kit from a previous season (if, for some strange reason, first and second kits still clash)?

Clubs forget what the purpose of an away kit is.
I recall St Johnstone a few years back with a blue home kit and a blue/red away kit.
So while your home kit is predominantly white and black and your away kit black there will be a need for a 3rd kit.
I suppose the question is whether having a black away kit is appropriate when you’re going to be facing at least two teams whose colours are black and white.

3rd kits are always about making money. I don’t know why clubs don’t follow a cadence of 1st and 2nd strips change in summer and introduce a 3rd in lead up to Christmas with commitment it lasts a calendar year instead of a season.
I would never buy a strip even as gift at Christmas as I know it’s on its way out so a bit of dispersion deals with that concern and is easier on the pocket (as well as I expect a bit additional cash flow in the winter).

Don`t think the 3rd strip should be priced the same as the home and away

How much money do we make off the strips and other training gear that is sold in the club shop.
Would it be possible to maybe change the Home top every 2 years with the Away one in the alternate years or would the club lose too much money. No need for a 3rd strip.

They would need to up the quality I have worn my away shirt twice in the house only and it`s bobbled and faded. Probably past the refund period or it would have been returned.
