I see he has retired from international duty at 31.

Good player for Scotland, but has been well off the boil for the last 12 months. Clarke will probably still try and pick him for every game

If you play for a top club it`s inevitable that at some stage your body won`t be as able to cope with continual club and international commitments. He always seemed to be available and there was never any suggestion with McGregor that he withdrew from squads unless he had an injury.

Celtic will be the main beneficiary of this decision but it should give Lewis Ferguson a chance to establish himself in the national side once he is fit.

McGregor was honking at the Euros.

Think it`s good for Scotland that we move on from him.

So were most of the players to be fair.

He played more football than anybody in the world in 2019(42 matches and 3714 minutes) 300 minutes more than anybody else. It`s inevitable that will catch up with you eventually, especially in the role he plays.

Looked really poor at the euro’s, behind even other Scottish players, didn’t even have the energy to make up for other areas of his game where he was well off the pace and so offered very little and constantly done by movement. I was suprised he was such a pivotal player at Celtic given that.

This is defo the right time, try and get some fresh faces in.

Let`s just see how well Ferguson returns from a very serious injury. Also he`ll be coming back into a Bologna side that has had it`s manager poached by Juventus and several star players sold to other clubs.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Time for new blood and others who have been on the fringes to be given a chance.

Ferguson, Gauld, Barron, Armstrong, Morgan and Conway all need to feature prominently in the next games. With Hickey, Paterson and Dykes coming back from injury too. Need Tierney to get a club and play regularly as his injury record is terrible unfortunately. Robertson and McGinn need to get back to their best too as they were both poor at the Euros.
The nations league games will be trying for sure.

Yeah totally, still have a fantastic selection of midfielders. Sociadad supposedly wants to keep Tierney, and the pace of the game there might help his fitness(even though he got injured there), but I am worried he will chuck in the international towel.

Sadly, all this is a pointless discussion while we persist with Clarke.

Gauld can`t be far off 30 himself now? Can`t see him ever playing for us tbh.More chance of him turning out for Canada now.
