I may be expressing a minority view, but given the severity of the forecast, it was surely incumbent on the SPFL to step in yesterday and cancel today`s football card? While this might not have been popular with teams playing at home (games rescheduled in midweek will invariably attract smaller crowds), the safety of players and fans must be paramount. If one person was to die or be seriously injured as a result of travelling to a game, the SPFL must shoulder at least some responsibility for failing to postpone today`s fixtures.

Should have reached out to clubs to find out travel plans - clubs that went on the Friday can go ahead if fine; clubs that didn’t should have had early call offs based on the travel conditions. Poor organisation again from the league. Delaying kick offs isn’t ideal either.

It`s a tough one. If games were postponed every time the weather forecast was bad there would be a lot that are called off and could have been played. This leads to big issues late in the season with backlog.
As a fan I think you have to make your own decision not to travel if things don`t look good. Otherwise you understand the risks.
Not sure the decision is one for the clubs either. You just end up with vested interests interfering and arguments about sporting fairness. Like our "burst pipe" that came at a convenient time last season.

Come on guys. I think with the Internet and general information flow these days it should be up to the individual whether they want to take the risk or not.
I don`t think the SPFL making decisions for us is ever a good idea. If the games on then it`s up to the individual fans to decide if its worth the risk. No need for the SPFL to make this call, just leave it up to the clubs.

Yes. But, according to sportsound, they messaged all clubs yesterday encouraging them to postpone today’s games. Only 2 games were postponed as a result of their message. It seems mental to suggest the SPFL should be blamed for clubs choosing not to postpone games, when the option is there.

I get that, par-91, but the home clubs are always going to resist any "encouragement to postpone a Saturday pm game, because of the anticipated drop in revenue when the game usually has to be played in midweek, and you can`t honestly blame them.
Would calling these games off yesterday not have been preferable to having fans and players travelling considerable distances in poor driving conditions only to find their games had been postponed late in the day?

Police decided on rovers game.
Spfl as been stated asked all clubs to communicate and agree to postpone matches, the board of spfl essentially work for the clubs and and such they have no real power other than follow the rules as laid down and agreed too by all clubs.
Their option to all clubs on Friday appears to be the best option they could provide, but seems most that most clubs decided to risk it with weather and travel.
Have to feel for Inverness and the cost to travel and stay over the night before and match still called off, don’t see that logic at all with money being a prisoner at Inverness.

As bene said it was the same for Ayr and we can`t use that as an excuse. To be honest they put the same lackluster performance as we are used to seeing from them this season so can`t hide behind the weather. It was the same for both teams Ayr managed it and we put out a statement basically covering the base for when we got beat.

But they still had to wait around and had their usual match day routine changed like ours was. They adapted and we reverted back to the usual guff we have produced so far this season. The situation was difficult for both sides yet we still couldn`t muster up a half decent performance exactly as Bene said we weren`t good enough.

I never once said that but okay. Both sides usual match routine was changed we had a longer than usual bus journey but they also would have been at the ground for longer than usual. Our performance however hasn`t changed it as the same guff as before as can be seen in both the "highlights" and match stats. We don`t create enough chances and haven`t done all season hence why we are second bottom of the league. So can we really blame the change for a performance that looks like most of the others so far this season.

I know you never, I agree with you, to suggest that sitting on a bus was the influence for the poor performance is nonsense as like others have suggested it was the same honking stuff we are so used to seeing these days.
Bene even suggested it made no difference. I`m not sure how many we pick up outside Glasgow but the manager alluded to such a stop, so it`s not the whole squad who have sat on the bus for that length of time.

What would be the normal journey time by coach from Dunfermline to Ayr? Two and a half hours maybe? I don`t know if they stop for lunch or if they take it with them. Even allowing an hour for it they would have got to Ayr by 12.45 pm. Allowing over an hour for bad weather. would get them there for 2 pm. It`s easy to be wise after the event and say they should have left earlier.

Transparency about the club and greeting online are two different things.
We want transparency about the running of the club, How the clubs plans are coming on, who’s doing what job, how players are getting on etc etc
Going out and making that post pre-match was weak. It wasn’t transparency it was waving the white flag before a ball was kicked. Even McPake was clued on enough to swiftly side step making any comments about it in his post match interview

You`re not going to get any information about the running of the club whilst the owners are trying to sell it. I thought McPake was critical of the SPFL`s handling of the kick-off issue in his post-match interview. This appeared on the BBC Sport website -
"We asked for the kick-off to be pushed back further. Their players were preparing for a 15:00 kick-off. That`s completely acceptable from Ayr United in my opinion but what I don`t think is acceptable is the fact that it took the SPFL until, I don`t know what time it was, when we got confirmation when the kick-off was. It`s the governing body and it`s the decision maker and I see other games that are moved back."
Some folk seem to think the club was right to raise it pre-match and some disagree. That`s fitba`.

You should watch the interview if you haven’t, he avoided using it as an excuse for the defeat.
I’ve yet to see anyone say it was a good thing for the club to post.
All that you’ve wrote about transparency I actually think you’re right, there is only so much the club can legally say at the moment. Doesn’t take away from the club being criticised for its silence long before that statement.
Really tho, how can you think a social media post that makes us look like a bunch of clowns is a positive step in the direction of transparency from the club?

Eck, wtf are you prattling on about the difference between facts and opinions? Of course it’s an opinion of mine that it makes the club look like a clown show, along with everything else that has happened recently. From the outside, the club looks rudderless. We seem to be walking from one controversial issue to another meanwhile the teams absolutely dross and the manager looks even less motivated than the players. The last thing we need is the only time the board want to be transparent about anything is how they feel hard done to by not delaying a kick off long enough for players to digest a meal.
The club in general is not in a good place and it’s hard for me not to conclude that we look like anything but a bunch of clowns atm

It’s already been said that they picked up players en route, one of whom had a minor crash, and traffic hold ups because of the weather. They’re obviously not going to go the same route to the away games as supporters buses especially since some players live outside Fife.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

I believe the squad also stopped off for lunch - maybe they should just have packed some ham/cheese sandwiches and had them on the bus. 🤔
Not your average Sunday League player.

They have microwaves on the bus and have had microwave meals before on away trips
It`s bloody tough being a legend

I`m sure I read that the team bus left at 9.15. When do you think they should have left?
wonder why the team bus took 6 hours and our supporters bus took 1:50 mins 🤔
I blame McPake, apparently when they set off he had chosen Chalmers to be the driver had decided they were going on the M8. Chalmers was very risk adverse though and the bus didn`t go forward much and mostly ended up in reverse. Dave Mackay was urging McPake to park the bus for safety`s sake. After 35 minutes McPake realised that the weather had out thought him, so replaced Chalmers with O`Halloran. While he knew where he wanted to go, the traffic was gridlocked and he just couldn`t get past. No one could fault his effort, but the engine had gone.
Unfortunately the squad doesn`t have the likes of Moffat & Williamson, or even young Rennie, who could have had the bus knowhow to get us where we wanted to go.
Got there in the end but I think the team and fans were all of the opinion McPake would be better walking
