When I was in China Shanghai Shenhua signed Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka.
Shanghai Shenhua were not a very good team and Anelka didn`t make them any better, but Drogba made them look great.
There aren`t many players that are good enough to single-handedly transform a team, especially a team that`s as low on confidence as the Pars at the moment.
Hopefully Wanyama can make a bit of a difference, but I think he`s going to be more of an Anelka than a Drogba.

There is a reason why no other team took him….. it was obvious today..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I thought he looked well off the pace. You probably would be looking at getting him on a training plan now to be fit enough to even take part in preseason training. I`d be surprised, but happy, if he`s of any use to us this season.
It`s a tough league this, full of good, fit, hard working pros (the other teams in the league anyway). I don`t think anyone can expect to just turn up and boss it

Wanyama brought in for the tilt at the playoffs
If there one position on the park you need to be fit to play it’s……….yip midfield.
Clay is a better option than wanyama this season.

I would hope he at least learned something today, being that despite the media bigging him up to be above this level, he isn`t going to be able to half ass it... Got an extra game now to work on it

It wasn`t just the media, tbf. Just read some of the threads on here this week.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Correct GG, so many people getting carried away with it all.
If Wanyama was ever going to skoosh this league with some to spare, he would have been snapped up at a higher level.
Surely Lennon realises this. So it was a bit of a head scratcher for me.

I was actually buzzing when he was announced BUT after watching that he is so out of shape I don’t see him having any impact at all. I hope I’m wrong but yeah today he didn’t look good at all the time he was on.

Where are those folks who were claiming we beat QPR to his signature?
Can see why he’s not played this year, I wonder if he was so out of shape in January that no one was prepared to take him on as he’s not going to be anywhere near fit this season.
It’s Lennon just doing an old mate a favour.

I’d be one of them, I read in a report that we had beat them to his signature. Its more likely that had a look at him and though nah I’ll pass.

I would doubt Lennon would have said yes to the signing if he knew his real state of fitness? I did initially say he might be up to speed for this level for the last four games, then changed and thought surely he must be fit enough?
The fact he was on the bench was an indication that he was far from match fit.
It`s bloody tough being a legend
