There’s a saying … people don’t leave bad companies - they leave bad managers.
Or to translate in football .. you don’t give up on a club in the poop - you give up on your manager.
Lenny. Did you watch him and his coach when the players were subbed. Did you see him arguing for his players when we were fouled etc. we will stay up because they feel the manager has their back. I have long been a fan of Chalmers. Coming good - really good.
Yeboah - it will come good - his best shift tonight.
Bene - at the end - on the park Lenny had some loving words with him ( if I could lip read).
Fear not - we are staying up.
Nothing in the championship is classy… grit will see you through.

You are not wrong. Lennon showed all his experience tonight, from the team he picked, to the tactics employed and the fight he got out of his players.

So much love for the players coming off.

So many bums being patted. So many heads being rubbed.

Also, so much more aggression on the pitch.

All NL needs to do is get the players up for the battle for 5 more games, especially Hamilton and Airdrie. On the basis of tonight I think he`s going to get it done.

He was always on the sideline barking instructions and encouragement to the players as well.

He will garner more respect thanks to his career as well, which will help. Certainly more experienced as well.

It`s great to see us play what I call "up and at `em" football.
So much more enjoyable than recently.

There is a proper manager in town now. It’s long overdue. I’ve waited so long for us to make a good appointment and kick on.

Brilliant set up from Lenny tonight. Players clearly buying in to what he’s asking of them. Team showed a type of grit and fight I’ve never seen from them. Livingston are a very physical side but we refused to be bullied tonight and doggedly held on to our lead. Neil Francis Lennon has got exactly what this club needs and I’m so glad he is here. I’m buzzing after that.

Lennon was at them the whole game. Not just meaningless shouting but loads of encouragement. He was shouting for every ball to be closed down.

Credit to the players for their effort tonight first and foremost. That performance had Lennon written all over it though. We saw the fruits of a proper good manager tonight.

None as fickle as Pars fans. Somebody started a Lennon out thread on Saturday.

I was thinking Lennon had placed a fine system that if you played it backwards at any time, you would be fined 🤣. It was so enjoyable to watch that scrap in every area. Still feel we need to be stronger in defensive set plays for 50/50 wins, but very enjoyable.

Not so sure about that Parrot. The mass hysteria on the forum after the Ayr game and the general consensus that the manager, the new high profile signing, and all of our useless players would surely get us relegated, was the main topic.

Excellent OP and an interesting thread.

Paralex, you`re old enough and ugly enough to know that football fans are a fickle bunch. The contrast between the comments posted after the Ayr and Livi games is astounding. It’s understandable. Most fans, myself included, just want to see our club retain its Championship status this season. Entertainment comes a distant second, if even that. There wasn`t a lot of that on show last night. Normally, I`d be moaning about that, but given our precarious league position, I`m delighted with the 3 pts.

Eta. Last night (and a few other games this season) gave the lie to fans who were adamant that our players are not good enough to compete in this league. They had "failed under 3 different managers" after all. Lennon's abilities have quickly been reassessed and he's gone from zero to hero in 4 days. 😄

Amen to that GG. I left the ground in very high spirits last night and DA no 1 was pretty chipper too.

DA no 1 seems to upset a lot of punters but I think he`s as sound as a £. 🙂 He gets annoyed at Berkey for his repetitive posts, which is understandable, even though the same Berkey makes plenty of good points.

It’s hard to detect sarcasm by text but the Lennon Out thread was definitely in jest. He is the best manager we’ve had since Calderwood and I seriously believe we’ll go from strength to strength if he keeps us up this season. The next two games are massive and if we win both we’ll be safe. We have the ability but the team need to show up. With Lennon in charge I hope they can!

We saw last night what Joe is capable off in the right set up .. passing to players who actually run into spaces in the opposition half .. always liked him .. he must have been so frustrated with the last 3 managers

I can`t find a "Lennon Out" thread, Ross, but some of the posts berating him after the Ayr game, we`re definitely not sarcastic. I`d cut the posters who made them plenty of slack, especially if they`d ignored the weather forecast and headed to Somerset.

Emotions were at stratospheric levels.

Gg riva, emotions were indeed running high after the Ayr game, I felt it myself on the drive home and noticed the general mood of despair on here. After a nights sleep and a bit of reflection I felt a bit better and resolved that if anyone could make a team out of this squad it would be Neil Francis Lennon, I made the “reasons to be cheerful” thread to try and lift the mood.

Even I didn’t expect a victory last night though, I thought Hamilton, Airdrie and Queens park were the ones to win, I went along last night hoping we’d improve and not get utterly humped. To win was a massive bonus.

I’d disagree that last night wasn’t entertaining, I was thoroughly entertained. We got the ball forward a lot and into their box where things might happen, we looked dangerous enough on the break in the latter stages of the game, we won a lot of physical battles and 50/50 balls. It might not be the type of football that everyone enjoys but I love it, beats tippy tappy pihs any day of the week for me.

I think it’s more aimed at how bad the players were over Lennon and words were possibly poorly chosen, especially at that time. There was a massive sense of optimism last week before the Ayr game and it turned into a joke. Wanyama’s sending off summed it all up. Hopefully we’ve turned a corner after last night, but I won’t get too ahead of myself as we’ve been guilty of that plenty this season only to get a nasty shock the next game. This time, we simply cannot afford to slip up. Saturday is the biggest game of the season. I believe we’ve failed to win two in a row so far this season. Hopefully that will change.

That was a very brave and commendable of you. 🙂

I think I`m guilty of having chosen the wrong word, N10Y. It would have been more accurate to say the game lacked quality than entertainment. Certainly, direct football can be exciting and hanging on for the win at the end was nerve-shredding, but perhaps not entertaining? As fans, most of us are happy to see our team fight and scrap for every ball and, in our position, grind out a win, but most objective spectators without an emotional investment would probably tell us there wasn`t much quality on show from either team.

GG, I think most people who rock up to go and see a game in person want excitement, incidents, shots, crunching tackles and goals to entertain them. I’ve been to see a lot of games at a lot of levels, and the most entertaining was Grimsby winning 5-4 against Wrexham. The quality wasn’t high but it was very entertaining and filled with incidents. I’ve been to EPL games that were mind numbing boring despite the higher quality of players on display.

Football should be exciting to watch. Get the ball forward, try and make some chances.

Likewise, a few weeks ago I saw Edinburgh City v Stirling Albion. City were losing 2 - 3 with not long to go and emerged 4 - 3 winners. Whilst perhaps not the most technically skillful game you will ever see, it was hugely entertaining.
