 4 games to go.
Topic Originator: Jock Par36

We have 4 games left to save our season.
Looking at the fixtures of all the teams
round us and I think we have the better
run in. We should be a banker bet for staying
in this league. If we don`t start scoring
some goals then it will be League one
next season.

I wouldn’t put stolen money on us staying up. Team has absolutely no ideas without Kane in it. Us staying up purely depends on what games he can play

Yesterday was a horrific game to lose.
Airdrie are currently a better side than us, Hamilton and Queens Park. Hopefully they’ve just left themselves too much to do.
Queen’s Park next week is a must win or I fear we will finish bottom

Having the hardest run in will not help either…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Yes, next week is absolute must win. If we can`t beat that Queens Park team then it`s over.

Our creative midfielders and strikers (Kane exempt) are simply not good enough and I think that`s what will relegate us.

Airdrie have goals in them. Hamilton at least have Ollie Shaw playing every week. Queens are our best chance of a win and then make sure we don`t get beat of Airdrie at home.

Queens just looked devoid of any confidence yesterday.

Started with a back 5 but no press, didn`t really have any level of intensity or threat going forward even through Rudden.

Maclean confirmed before the game they have 18(yes eighteen) injuries at the moment. I think the only thing that could save them is the stage of the season we`re at, it this was 5 games ago I`d back them to go down.

28 conceded in 8 games, 13 in the last 3.

Does not matter how bad everyone else is, in this league at the bottom you are likely to lose a goal, in our case that probably means nil points

We look the weakest team at the moment alongside Queen’s Park. Devoid of ideas and quality yesterday, you knew it from that starting 11.

Hamilton just about have enough up front to save them, if a team dominates in the air they will always create chances. They will beat Queen’s Park when they play them so fancy it’s a bottom 2 from the other 3

At this point you would take the playoffs. I’m not sure I’d fancy us in them but after yesterday you feel like it would be a decent result not to finish bottom.

If we perform like we did yesterday airdrie will beat us at home so somehow, we need to beat Queen’s Park and pick up something against Partick or we could be bottom when airdrie come to east end.

Take any chance we have of staying up. Whatever happens keep Lennon, empty the dross we have (Mcann first) and start again. What a golden opportunity we had yesterday to entice new fans. Sadly we are left with the legacy of pathetic boardroom decisions resulting in shocking recruitment and a terrible season

Having visited EEP to watch DAFC for the first time on Sunday, biggest concern would be that it seems quite unclear where the goals might come from.

I thought Dunfermline were the better footballing team but seemed a bit impotent up front. Unfortunately in football, you can be the better team but you need goals to win games and DAFC didn`t look like they had a dangerous striker up front who could take whatever half chance may present itself.

I am now invested and will be keeping a close eye on the run in, sincerely hope DAFC can stay up as the club has excellent infrastructure and remaining in the Championship next season would hopefully give the new owners a stronger platform to build from as the club has massive potential.

All bottom 4 clubs will be tied on 33 points going into the second last weekend, where we play Airdrie and Queens play Accies.

Surely with those games at this stage of the season that will inevitably happen

All the final games are on the Friday night, LA, presumably in the interests of `sporting integrity`. The same thing happened last year. I can`t remember if any was on the TV.

Our game is not live but to ensure the league finishes in unison and that nobody has an advantage, they all start and finish at the same time and same day on the final day.

Queens Park play Hamilton the week before.

i reckon we need 7 points to have a chance of avoiding 9th, Saturday is a must win though cause i cant see those 7 coming from the other 3 games.

Desperate times n all that ,haven`t we got someone on the fringes that is tall and can jump? If so,stick them up front with our best crossers out on both wings. It`s not an original idea, other teams have done it. I think Arsenal done it recently and even though I can`t remember the player, it wielded goals. Then there was Andy Tod, central defence one week, striker the next.

I`m just throwing out an idea, but without Mr Glass we need to think outside the box.

I think the vast majority of dotnetters expected us to lose to Livi after the disappointing performance v Ayr. Conversely, there was a great deal of optimism generated by the win v Livi and almost all of us thought we could/ would beat Hamilton. One poster (can`t find it now) said it didn`t matter as we ended up with the same points he/she expected but that`s not true as Hamilton would have been a point behind us instead of 2 in front had results gone as he/she predicted.

It’s really difficult to predict. Feel like QP are currently the worst of the 4 teams in the fight, but they had a head start on the rest of us.

I think deep down I feel that we’ll escape, but the result on Saturday was a big blow.

All huge games now. Need to beat QP and Airdrie.

End of the day that was super disappointing on Saturday and felt like an opportunity missed on various levels (league position, big crowd, momentum, etc).

However we are by no means dead and buried, and I’m sure there will be lots of twists and turns before the final whistle of the last league match - both for us and those around us.

All we can do is dust ourselves down and attack the next game with as much intensity and bravery as we can muster - we’re only one win away from potentially being 7th so it’s still all to play for!

The first goal is almost always crucial in every game, no matter the teams involved, but perhaps even more so in games involving the Pars this season. I believe the stats show that the teams that open the scoring usually go on to win about 80% of the time.

For too long we’ve been having to get our goals from midfield or Kane! Watching the highlights and it’s clear to see our strikers react instead of anticipating! The bosses pal Ally McCoist got half his goals by following up in the hope the goalkeeper dropped it, ours seem to watch it thinking the keeper has it then when it’s spilled there’s almost an “oh sh*t” panic amongst the attackers and inevitably they are slower to react or further behind the defenders.

This to me seems a training issue, something I’m hoping they are heavily addressing this week.

Agree cammypar, I was exactly the same. Even if we were delivering peaches of balls into the box we still wouldn’t have scored.

There was no one on that pitch that I’d have backed to score from a yard out with just the keeper to beat.

If there’s no Kane there is no feeling around the place that we are going to score.

How did Otoo manage it against Livi? Kane was on the pitch but he wasn`t involved in the goal. It was the result of a poor defensive header from a pretty poor cross. Like Hamilton`s goal on Saturday it was highly preventable and not the result of a brilliant build-up.

Not sure if being serious (you can never be sure with some dotnet posters) but I was obviously talking about Kane.

Also, just in case you don`t know what I`m on about with the Mr Glass reference, he`s the Samuel L Jackson antagonist in M Night Shamalayan Unbreakable Trilogy who has an illness that makes him really fragile. ie falls down a single step and breaks his legs. Turning him a total psycho.

The refs need to give Charlie some protection then he might not get injured so easily.

Have a perfectly pleasant day 😊

Exactly highly preventable, we keep giving away too many highly preventable goals and that is reflected in our league position. As GG said above 80% of teams that score first go on to win the game. We don`t score enough and lose too many silly goals. We haven`t got any cutting edge up top.

I know you were and to be totally honest you preach mental health often enough then you take a cheap shot at the guy by referring to him as mr glass because of his injury problems did you consider his mental health when you came up with that? either way a half fit Chris Kane would probably still out last you in a 90 game of football
