Getting rid of players is the easy bit, especially if they are out of contract, but replacing them with better ones is trickier. Even if the owners authorise a much bigger budget where do you recruit Premiership-standard players from?

I would have thought most would prefer to stay in the Premiership even if we could match their wages. You could attract some senior pros looking for a final big pay day but you don`t want a squad full of them. I guess the best market will be youngsters rejected by Premiership clubs or Championship players who have the potential to play at a higher level

The other unknown is the interaction between the owner`s data analysis approach and the manager who is more accustomed to relying on professional judgment and a network of contacts. Interesting times but, as ever in football, no guarantees.

Tbh it’ll be easy to replace the majority of players leaving as they aren’t good enough.

Think fans will be pleasantly surprised by the standard of players we will be bringing in.

We`re not just expecting them to be better than those leaving but good enough to compete for the Championship. `Pleasantly surprised` sounds as if you have inside information when we don`t know for sure who the manager is! We should keep our feet on the ground for now.

Off the top of my head I think Mehmet, Bray (from ICT), Bene, Fisher, Breen, Ngwenya, KRH, Otoo, Todd, Connor Young and Kane, along with young ones.

Mullen will be here now we’re staying up.

Massive overhaul required.

Thanks for the inside info. I didn`t realise Breen will still be under contract. What`s happened to him? He hasn`t been in a Pars or Annan squad for months.

Don`t think we need Prem standard players. Just replacing a lot of the League 1 dross with Championship 1uality players would be a huge upgrade. Mix in the odd Prem level player like Dexlan Gallagher if he`d drop down

I know it`s the thing to say we have a squad of `League 1 players` but if we did we would have been cut adrift at the foot of the table with no hope a long time ago - unless all the other teams fighting relegation are also full of League 1 players of course.

My feeling is that the expectation IS to compete for the title next season so a big improvement in playing standards will be expected too.

better, quicker, stronger, bigger, ideally cheaper, in some cases younger....that never really changes. dont think its about spending loads either, its being smarter and better with what is available.

Breen isnt under contract.

13 first team players are, 4 youth team.
Mehmet, Fisher, S.Young, Benedictus, Ngwenya, Bray, Ritchie-Hosler, Otoo, Todd, A.Tod, T.Sutherland, Kane, C.Young. (Margetts, J.Tod, Beveridge, Rowe)

2 options, Mullen and McCann.

I wouldn`t be so sure.
Who`s to say other suitors won`t appear now that he`s back in the game. I haven`t read anything that suggests he`s tied to us if we stay up although he has made positive noises about the future with us.

I have no doubt NL will be manager next season if he wants it. I`m sure the owners will be looking for certainty, and ensure tge work in the close season can be carried out promptly ready for the start of next season. There were 5500 supporters at the game yesterday when we bumping around the bottom of the league. It`s about the potential of the club, the potential of the players and what NL and his team think they can realistically achieve. Personally, I`d like to see Fagan Walcott back at the club. Tash has quality about him but needs players around him who can anticipate and create space.

Sam Young

KRH
Keith Bray (once he returns from Inverness loan)
Todd
Tod Jr

Kane
T Sutherland
Connor Young

The younger players in the under contract list are all good, of the senior players, Otoo would like to see extension but it wouldn`t surprise me if he was off soon.

It`s up to the manager, but apart from Comrie I don`t see much in the way of trying to keep any out of contract players, McCann maybe if N Lennon thinks he can improve him.

The other players have tried , but we badly need better players , I can`t see any players out of contract getting a gig in the championship.

Apparently Fisher is still under contract but Breen isn`t. How do you offload someone who is under contract? Some club has to be interested and the player will be looking for terms at least equal to what we are paying him.

I`d love to see Fagan Walcott back too but I fear he`s found his level and it`s above us wages wise As for Tash I just don`t see what you see. I see not enough touches of the ball because he doesn`t find the right positions to affect the game in the attacking half. He just doesn`t do enough.

Would be good to see him back but he signed a 4 year deal with York in January so would cost a decent fee

It`s going to be an exciting time to be a Pars fan this summer. Hopefully they get Lennon signed up and I wouldn`t mind us taking up the supposed option on Chikloa-Mullen, and getting Oluwayemi in. The players out of contract haven`t really done enough to get an extension, and those under contract are good enough for the squad if they can`t be moved on. I could see Benedictus and Fisher being moved on or having their contract terminated, depending on their court case. We would need to be looking bringing in stronger players, to push at least 6 of them out of the first eleven and on to the bench.
GK. Oluwayemi
CB. Chikloa-Mullen
CB. Benedictus
CB. Fisher
RWB. Bray
CM. Richie-Hosler
CM. Todd
CM. Otoo
LWB. Ngwenya
CF. Kane
CF. Young

Bench
GK. Mehmet
GK. Margetts
CB. S.Young
CB. J. Tod
CM. Beveridge
CM. Rowe
CM. A. Tod
CF. McCann
CF. T. Sutherland

Y, Fisher went off the boil quickly before getting punted on loan.

He was good at first.

If the court case is bad, I guess he is binned.

Either way, we have an awful lot of guys in development as it is, good to go with them, personally I`ve had enough of guys well into their 20s who have not improved.

Still too many who haven’t shown enough under contract, hopefully they can be loaned or freed out.

Noticed Todd subbed at half time yesterday, he’s another who if he was out of contract would be away. Will be interesting to see about the 2 we have options , presumably we’ll take JCM but will be interesting to see the length of the deal etc and will we add Lenny to the list of managers who have kept McCann on.

Strange about contracts being up until late May, you’d have thought they would be told they are not being kept on in the week following the Morton game so we must continue to pay them for another month even after telling them they will be away.

Jake was signed on a two year apprenticeship in the summer of 2023
Yes it says in the article from March 2024 Jake has 2 years to run .but I was talking to Jake he says it runs out in May

All clubs will have to consider the possibility of being involved in play-offs surely when deciding the expiry dates of contracts? The end of the month seems reasonable in the circumstances.

Few people have mentioned the option on Jeramiah Chilokoa-Mullen, but I`m sure I read when we signed Omar Rivaldo Taylor-Clarke that we also had an option on him? I`d expect most of our young prospects (the Tods, the Sutherlands, Sam Young, Margetts, Briggs, Rowe, etc) to still be employed by us one way or another next season, with some/all going out on loan for at least the first half of the season.

I think we need to be savage where we can this close season.

Only players I’d like to see next season that we have so far are:

Tobi
C. Young
Otoo
Mullen
Bray
Kane (if he can prove his fitness)
Wanyama (if he can get fit!)

A lot of fans dislike Tash, and I think he will go, but I think there is a player in there, talented boy, wouldn’t be against him staying.

McCann has had enough opportunities and the rest if we are really serious about moving forward, we need to be striving for better.

Appreciate we have folk still on contract, still spewing over that 3yr Mehmet deal so we’re going to be stuck with a few.

Going to be an exciting close season anyway

Agree berry but I’m not sure how Kane is supposed to prove his fitness? He had a customised pre season this season in an effort to get more minutes out of him and it didn’t make any difference so think we’re going to have to accept another year of it and make a decision next summer. Fancy he’ll be one of 3 main strikers alongside young and a new striker.

Tash is on his way out of football, clearly got the talent but lost the hunger and interest in the game so can’t see him staying and wouldn’t want him too.

I think you’re basing your opinion of wanyama on a player that unfortunately no longer exists. I’d be waiting until he’s gone through pre season and the friendlies before considering anything if it was me.
