Just watched the highlights from their game v Ross Co and Airdrie looked useful. Decent players, Mochrie, Henderson and McGrattan caught the eye.
Ross County looked like a bunch of thugs.
Tough game coming up on Saturday…
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

To be honest, I think they’ll all be tough games this season, I don’t think anyone will run away with it or be massively isolated this season.

Airdries injury record last season was really bad. When they started getting guys fit they had a good run towards the end of the season. It will be a tough game.
The good news for us is that they have sold top scorer Ben Wilson (TNS), lost Adam Frizzell (Derry), and Mason Hancock (Walsall).
McCabe is a good manager, will still have them playing good football and they`ll be hard to beat.

My partner is from Airdrie, and all her relatives follow the diamonds! Did I get in the neck last season, they even interrupted an event I was at to tell me the score.
Going to the game hoping for payback!!!

Folk seem to forget that Airdrie were the main beneficiaries of Hamilton being penalised by a points deduction for financial irregularities without which they would have been relegated automatically. There was a lot of talk about them catching us in the run-in but it didn`t happen. They may have had a bad time with injuries but so did we the previous season with little sympathy being shown.

As we all know there is no easy game in this League !
And Saturday will be no different another hard game
However People commenting regarding how good some of the Airdrie players are , Let`s not forget we are not the same pushover team we were last year either, and we have quality of our own too , our only problem at present is taking the chances we are creating , We need another recognised striker in the door , although i have been quitely impressed by how our young lads have gone about their business and never give up

"Folk seem to forget that Airdrie were the main beneficiaries of Hamilton being penalised"
Lets be clear - they ( Hamilton) were docked points because they won games and points they possibly would not have - if they had not signed players they had no right to.
They could very easily have been bottom of the league ( Hamilton) on merit without those players.
As for the Airdrie game - I fully expect our midfield and defence to keep up the good work - and for most strikers - its about confidence - if we get 1 I expect 1 or 2 more- the question is "if"

I can’t see Halbeath road getting tickets.
What are people meant to do with absolutely sh1te parking facilities at East End Park?
Lots of older pensioners go to the games and disabled.
They can’t be expected to travel for a mile to get to support their team.

There`s a car park behind the North Stand, would be the counter argument. And for disabled or elderly fans, I think you can contact the SLO to organise a parking space?
I`m sure someone a week or so ago said that the wardens were out when folk were in getting season ticket cards etc. Whether they`ll be there on a Saturday is another question of course.

I`m probably wrong but I think you`re allowed on the pavement provided you`re leaving 1.5m. Pavements on Halbeath Road are pretty wide so it might be alright.
Though those who can should be using public transport. There are spaces for people with disabilities round the back or, as Buffy suggests, Leys Park is a short walk and free

You’re correct the 1.5m rule applies to the exceptions to the pavement parking rule (doctors, delivery vans etc). Some streets can be exempt if more than 1.5m of space is left.
There is a list of them on the council website, there are hardly any in Dunfermline.
But guidance is any pavement parking should be prohibited.
You won’t receive a fine until post 31st August. Before then you’ll receive a warning.

Requested a parking exemption through Fife Council’s online form as it is definitely not listed as an area of potential exemption.
Also contacted the SLO on this matter to try to get clarity of this situation with Fife Council, not just for home supporters, but all supporters.i have visions of Fife Council not fining or warning anyone during the grace period for them subsequently to have a field day on the first match after the rules for fines comes into place.
It will be interesting on Halbeath Road on match days if this is enforced as parking on the road will make it much tighter for buses and emergency vehicles.
Note: might be useful for everyone who parks on the Halbeath Road to add a parking exemption on the website to highlight the issue as to park in Leys parking means a massive amount of traffic through Townhill and Kingseat area for those of us who need to travel east.

Being honest, it`s pretty ridiculous that some of the poor parking hasn`t been tackled before now. Halbeath Road is a main road into the city centre. If Leys Park is too busy/too difficult you can park at both Dunfermline City and Queen Margaret stations and walk along.

Hi Jake the situation in Halbeath Road of parking in the pavement could be the lesser of 2 evils. To park on the road is allowed but it makes Halbeath Road much more congested for passing traffic and emergency vehicles. Parking on the pavement would alleviate the issues.
In reality, if a free bus or a reasonable fee for buses to the game ran from Halbeath Road to the park and ride at Halbeath, I would take that as it is horrible getting away from East End after a game. I arrive at 1pm to ensure I have my space near the stadium, but if they do enforce the parking rule and we are pushing higher up the league then getting close to the stadium will be really tricky with no alternative.
Let’s see what the club and Fife council offer, but if enforced it is maybe a question to the club during one of the regular meetings.

It`s a fair point. There are plenty "normal" streets that are narrow that parking on the road would result in congestion whereas a few inches on the pavement makes life easier without blocking the pavement for buggies and wheelchairs. Sadly, too many don`t understand common courtesy, including a guest to my neighbours who regularly parks their entire car on the pavement. I mean all four wheel on the pavement and nothing on the road. Absolutely incredible. Common sense would be the answer but too many people don`t have any!
A shuttle bus would be a good idea. Use the club mini bus with Sammy the Tammy at the wheel!

Had my driveway partially blocked several times by people ‘parking’
Also had it so it’s essentially impossible to get a car out, with people right up to the edge on both sides and opposite side of road - so when reversing out you can’t turn the wheel until your basically hitting the car opposite
I don’t mind as at the football, but not great for family who don’t attend if they need to get somewhere

It`s going to be a real issue if we get big crowds, Leys Park generally has a decent amount of spaces left most games, but I`ve stopped using it after a couple of near misses. So I park in a place where hardly anyone parks and is a 5 minute walk to the ground. And I`ll be keeping it to myself. 😂

Quite possibly the same place as I park, however there is enough adequate parking in and around the ground, and even if people are out of options, there’s plenty of other places (schools, car parks etc), you just have to walk 5-10 mins, nothing wrong with that.
I have been driving to games for years and have never felt the need to park on the pavement or block someone’s drive.

Anyway, to get back on track…(last one I promise).
I don’t think anyone can go into this game confident where we are still lacking in a number of positions, importantly up front.
Really depends for me on whether Kane is fit or not which determines how much of an attacking threat we’ll be.
We had a lot of possession at Morton second half, and had some good chances but they were hard fought and didn’t come easy, and would’ve benefited from someone like Kane who can hold the ball up, win fouls and more clinical.
If anyone was at Morton early and watched the warm up shooting practice….it was brutal - a player like Young would benefit having Kane playing alongside him.
Low scoring affair, we sneak it.

Even if we get 45 minutes from Kane it would be a bonus.
We’re a more solid unit in the middle of the park for sure but still lacking that player who creates things and can beat a man to create space for others so agree, we might sneak it 1-0, or I reckon a hard fought 2-1 win.

Brutal is the right word. I’m not sure if you were standing near me, but Young missed one and there was a chorus of gasps, laughter and a few comments of “holy f-k” as well. That was worrying.
I must admit, I thought we would have had someone in by now, and can only assume that we’ve not got a signing over the line or we are waiting in a queue for them to arrive. It is frustrating and I’m sure NL will be frustrated also.

I keep reading and hearing people say this, but have to say that I haven’t seen what others have, to come to this conclusion. I will give the lad time, and when I watched him at Edinburgh a few times, I was really really impressed and the boy clearly has a talent, but I can’t say that I have seen this talent SO FAR in a Dunfermline shirt.
Not writing him off, making him a scapegoat or any of that kind of thing, but I can’t say I am totally sold on the fact that he can produce, what we need, at this level.

Bad news Chris Kane still out.
Another game, another Dunfermline 0.
On the plus side, we do look a lot more defensively solid this season, which is something to build on.
Kane missing the first two games isn`t exactly a shock unfortunately anymore. The bigger issue is that every club in Scottish football seems to be hunting for a striker who can score goals and stay fit we aren`t alone.
That said, we’ve been brutal at shooting in training and warm ups for as long as I can remember, so I wouldn`t read too much into that as it’s nothing new. But Connor Young really needs to start showing something sooner rather than later. Time for him to step up and ideally when kane is absent.
c'mon the pars

Connor Young played really well against Morton, and I`ve seen enough of him to think he will be absolutely fine in time at this level, he has positional sense as well.
Likewise Josh Cooper, im guessing neither will get a ton of goals, but we are getting plenty shots on target etc from throughout the team.
We might well lose on Saturday, but I think we will be fine this season, I won`t be having a hissy fit- my expectations are to be close to playoff offs.
We still need bodies, but we are a work in progress, too bad Kane is out, but we carry on without him

Perhaps Young, Cooper or Tod will get the nod up front but we don’t have another Chris Kane type, therefore we have to alter the way we play.
Kane is very good at holding the ball up, getting us up the park and winning fouls.
None of these three are able to do that.
It`s bloody tough being a legend

Yes, we just have to get used to playing without him-not easy, as there are few in the game that have his qualities.
He`s got long term injury issues, which is how we were able to sign him, and I can`t think of anyone that have similar abilities that we could sign. The closest we had was Jakubiak, who I liked, but he`s nowhere as good, and is even more injury prone sadly.
We keep on saying `we need a striker` and we probably do, but everyone needs a striker.
Tough game tomorrow, as they all are, but am confident we will use our pace, we will have a decent go at it.

We did well against the Ton without Chris K. Although we didn`t score, I think we`re more threatening - we look more like scoring than last season. Connor was only denied by goalkeeping brilliance, and we know Josh and Andrew can score from half-chances. We`re in it tae win it.

Yeh Rigger, I`ve read that comment in NL`s preview - possible new front man:
"Lennon hinted that reinforcements could arrive soon, with a striker being the priority. “I’m hoping maybe, maybe, we’ll have one in tomorrow. I can’t guarantee that, but I think we’re close,” he said when asked about new signings."

Doesn`t seem likely, but they`re keen, and trying to urge it over the line.
Otherwise, we have a team that can win. Like the Accies and Morton games it could be as tight as a rubber band on a bullock`s nuts.

ATod is surprising me … a couple of seasons ago he was skilful but not robust enough and a bit naive … no shock there
Now he is putting in a good shift - and clearly learning as I thought amongst other
attributes he was Kane-esk in his hold up play and winning fouls with his back to goal.
