 Post-match review (non-football)

How did fans find the new catering arrangements throughout the stadium on Saturday - any improvements on the initial teething problems experienced during the LC matches? As I said on another thread I tried the new hospitality offering in the Purvis Suite and thought it was an upgrade on previous ones.

I see some fans had problems with entering with their STs. Was that linked to the the re-issue of wrongly designated under-12 cards? I heard that this would have cost the club around £50k if it hadn`t been addressed.

What was the reason for the temporary `lock-in` of fans in the NW at full-time? I don`t think there have been any comments about it on here.

Can`t comment on anything of the above but noticed there was a lock out of legends after the match with a big queue. Does this always happen? I don`t tend to hang around after home games.

Thought the service was quite slow in the main stand. Never bought Bridies, so can’t see any significant difference tbh. I know the staff are young but there seemed to a fair bit of dithering. Should improve in the next few weeks…. Hopefully.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I would guess the locking of the carpark gates would be to prevent the inane behaviour that has happened before when fans of some away teams have mixed with Pars fans in the carpark.

If so, I don`t know if it was announced before the match, which would have been useful for anyone planning a quick getaway post-match.

I think there was either a function on or there was simply too many people wanting in after the game.

There were two announcements re the car park gates - one just before half time and the other in the second half.

Service far too slow in the NW, they only had one of the shutters open as well.

You then wait in the queue for however long it was only for them to be out of stock.

They have a telly up that tells you the prices etc would be good if they could highlight on the screen when an item is sold out to save folks queuing for nothing.

Whilst I was excited at the catering change, admittedly I’d prefer Stephen’s at the moment.

I had a bridie and I found it fine. More meat, less pastry was nice. However the coffee. I pi@@ stronger. £6:40 seemed slightly on the expensive side. Card only in legends caused a few problems for some. However Sky Sports is a huge plus imo.

Service was painfully slow in the NW. The queue was half way down the stand before the game. Product was good.

Arrived early as always and the staff were finding their feet when I got there. I ordered a bovril as I couldn’t see the sugar or milk around and didn’t want to harass a team already looking harassed.
Had the macaroni pie. It was warm, crisp and the macaroni had the right amount of pepper, so acceptable. Bovril was warm and tasty.
The gates at the end was frustrating but not a deal breaker as it was only a short delay, but not sure really how it avoids trouble.
Parked at Bellyeomen Road and took a little longer to get home but better than receiving a parking fine on Halbeath Road. All in all, match day experience neither better or worse than before, but food was definitely an improvement. I really wanted to try a sausage roll but there was none advertised and given the stress on the girls, I went with what I knew was available.
Oh, the use of a card at the game is not favourable for me. Prefer cash.

"Parked at Bellyeomen Road and took a little longer to get home but better than receiving a parking fine on Halbeath Road."

Don`t know if anyone did get a ticket on Halbeath Rd but there were a few folk still half on pavements on Bellyeoman Rd which surprised me a little. Didn`t see any tickets when I got back to my (fully on the road) car though.

On the catering, there needs to be fences or barriers of some sort put up because people don`t seem to know how queues work any more. There were large queues at four of the five servers in the Norrie but one there were were only a handful of customers. I joined that queue and was served pretty quickly. Same happened outside incidentally, where folk were queueing only for a steward to go down the line telling folk to form three lines rather than just two.

I got a macaroni pie which was quite nice and piping hot and a Pepsi Max. The pie was maybe a little expensive but at £2.40 (I think) I thought the juice was about par with what you`d pay at a cafe, or a fairground etc and cheaper than the cinema. Having a full 500 ml drink was nice and although it needed to be poured out a bottle and this took time, at least it wasnt flat ad a result.

Hopefully get some new pastry options soon and then once the kitchens get upgraded hopefully it`ll be a lot better again.

The NW is going to be more than 90% full most weeks and so it would make sense to have two windows open and more staff. I was in early and the queue was already twenty deep.

The kebab pie is a delight. I haven’t had any hot drinks so can’t comment of the quality.

The gates closed after the match is a real hindrance.

I got served relatively quickly although I was in earlier and there was lids for juice which was a bonus. Gates have been shut a couple of times in recent seasons which is a pain in the bottom afterwards for the quick exit. I couldn’t hear it clearly from front of Norrie towards the NW but we got the info.

The gate being locked is an absolute joke. You either pay £5 to pay there or you have a blue badge. I am not sure why away fans take priority in this situation? All 99 of them. It`s all very well when the weather is fine and the mood is good but hemming people in due to poor organization is unacceptable. To have people with walking sticks, wheelchairs or are just not great on their feet waiting around is poor.

Due to a family member with a disability I am essentially at the game by 2pm to make sure we get into the carpark. This would be fine if there were disabled spaces left but there never are. On more than one occasion some of these have been filled with players/wags cars.

Only one turnstile open in the west wing of the main stand, no hot food at the kiosk. You`d think they want you in and quickly as possible and spending money. 9/10 you feel like a inconvenience at eep

Re-the locked gate.
It was there a year or more ago some Airdrie muppets tried to pick a fight with Pars fans entering the NW so they are considered high risk with our young fans leaving the ground.

I gave up waiting for food in the NW Stand, it was just far too slow and I needed a pee. I believe the kebab pies were nice but when I was I. The queue it wasn’t that big so I have no idea what the hold up was.

Partick fans and a couple of others, used the gate to start fights as well last season. I honestly don’t think it’s a bad thing it being shut. Just need consistency so that people know.

Got my usual parking space so no surprise there. Got in earlier than usual so decided to grab a bridie. Decent filling, bit greasy. Picked up two Sammy the Tammy biscuits, one for me, one for the laddie. They are smaller than Stephen’s but much better quality imo. Total came to £7.60, which felt a bit steep, but I wasn’t there for the food, I was there for the football, so it’s not going to be a regular thing for me. Although served its purpose.

The older gentlemen next to me reckoned the hot drinks aren’t as hot as Stephen’s, which I think is a good thing as Stephen’s coffee was like drinking lava, you had to order it at 2pm if you wanted it cool enough to drink on the drive home.

As for the lock in I’d guess it was down to expecting bother, but I could be wrong. It`s usually what it`s for.

One disappointing aspect was the new "club song". The big hype was soon gone as the quality was crap, I put it down to the terrible tannoy system but they then played the Dunfermline are the team we all adore song and the quality on that was better although the inferior age difference.

Anyone use the kiosk in the west side of the main stand ? I heard an old boy say to his mate 10 minutes into the 1st half "all that was left were kebab pies", don`t know if there was any truth in that .

I never tried any of the food or drink on offer. I did miss not getting my match day program. My son has been collecting them as a reminder of our match days.

The boy and I had a Bridie. Not a patch on a Stephens Bridie of old, but it`s been years since they were at that level. Certainly on last year`s offerings, it was definitely an improvement and no complaints. Plenty of meat and was perfectly good. Service seemed slow due to what looked like a complicated way to complete the order on their mobile device. Didn`t queue for too long.

It opened after about 5 minutes of me arriving and I am the last to leave the NW every week. I would say it is a bit of a safety issue that many people squeezing into the space as they lock the gates behind you. A wee bit tight!

The gate into the Norrie concourse should NOT be closed if the gate to the carpark is not yet open. I believe this was the club policy in previous seasons.

It wouldn`t have been a major issue on Saturday as the weather was fine, but in winter it could be - there are elderly or disabled supporters (among others) who should not be expected to wait in the rain or cold for the carpark gate to open.

Gotta say the catering in the main stand west was poor. Out of pies and bridies at twenty past 3 then selling out of date sammy, double biscuits. The catering staff did advise that the biscuits were out of date but said they would be okay. Apparantly more pies etc were coming for half time but never went back to check if they did. Why not stocked up for the game starting 🤔 bizarre

One turnstile at the Main Stand West again. I`m assuming there`s a reason for not opening another one and the club aren`t choosing to leave a long queue outside after kick off but it`s been a recurring issue for ages now

It’s a bugbear of mine. If you can’t get the staff, increase the pay by a couple of quid an hour, it’ll cost the club peanuts.

Whether it was marked “best before” or “use by” determines which side of the law this falls under. Either way, they shouldn’t be selling it if it’s past any date. I’ll be honest, I didn’t check the dates at the time, but I wasn’t told they might be out of date either. Really poor to find out they were knowingly selling goods past their date.

Parking was really busy where I normally park – I wonder if the shift from pavement to on-street parking has shifted volume elsewhere.

As for the catering, the service still seems incredibly inefficient. At least this time they didn’t forget my order, but they had one person holding the oven door open whilst another tried to use tongs to put my bridie in the paper bag. A queue built up whilst this was achieved. I wonder why two steps have been added to the previous process.

I think the card-reader is quicker than cash, but it does seem to take longer to press all the right buttons.

Coffee was hot this week as was the bridie. They claim they want feedback but do not make it easy to provide. Perhaps I should write to David Cook?

I queued for abt 7 or 8 mins at the Norrie . Got to the turnstile but had to come back out as I couldn`t get my plastic ST scanned .
Was sent back up to a guy with a hand scanner who, after a bit of a guddle managed to scan my ticket . Quite a few people had problems . Hope it was a one off , I guess i`ll find out at the next home game .

Parking - fine, usual street quiet as usual.

Entry - bit slow as per usual but qr code scanned just fine on iphone, did have issues with it at Stirling game after my kid got through though.

Food - no idea - after getting scammed for £8 at Stirling game, I ate pre game.

Exit - normal, usual traffic leaving game, which from where I park is fine.

All in all, its been the norm, but still firmly believe they could do with someone in the turnstiles to help speed up the process when scanners don’t work properly.
