... closes 23.00 tomorrow.
Brought in some good players this window but still say one more striker and another centre back. Maybe a bit experience with both.
Looks like few out the door too. Matty Todd being one of them.
Any inside info or rumours going into the dying embers of the window?

Been a great transfer window. Team looking like it has lots of potential. Clearly not the finished article this team but much stronger now than the end of last season.
Striker and a centre half would be quite some end to the window.

Agree with Knebworth Par, it’s been a great window where we have improved the squad in every department. They might not be “household names” but they are gonna be I’m sure.
Would like to see at least 1 more being brought in and if we can offload a couple as well, then even better.

Depends what we can do and who we can get in. Very least I’d want a CB.
If we want to really push for top 2 I’d be looking at 2x CB, 1x RWB, 1x Striker and another in central midfield 🤷🏻♂️

It`s been a great window and I think it`s fairly clear we`ve strengthened both the overall squad and the starting XI. The midfield additions of Gilmour and Amade in particular make a massive difference. Both wingback spots improved, more creativity with Càceres and a better #2 striker in Rudden than before.
The only position I think we`ve possibly regressed at is the goalkeeper, Munn still looks very raw (understandable given his age). Oluwayemi was much more assured by the end of last season and would have been good to get back. But these things aren`t always possible.
Two quality signings tomorrow, one at striker and one in defence would be terrific. Would expect 3-4 to head out the door if that`s the case.

I’m pretty happy with the starting 11 we put out yesterday. Best starting 11 we have put out in the champ in a long time.
A couple more who would be upgrades on what we have or who provide strength in depth to cover for suspensions/injuries would be nice. Particularly at centre forward or centre back.
If we don’t sign anyone I won’t be upset, I’ll just be hoping certain key players stay fit and available.

Agree another experienced centre back is needed given the court case nevermind giving us the ability to rest Tod etc. I’d like another striker too so young can maybe go out on loan.
If Todd and a few others leave I would be great if there’s another attacking midfielder we could bring in, Jefferson looks great but not convinced cooper is quite good enough with the ball as the season goes on.
Decent window though now Lenny is playing them all, it’s taken until sat but a large chunk of the dead wood has been removed from the starting 11. Assuming we might do more business in Jan and some more are freed in the summer it’s all goin in the right direction. Only signing i think will prove a mistake is boothe but it’s only a 1 year deal.
Wonder if otoo not playing on Saturday suggests negotiations are ongoing with another club? If that goes through perhaps another playing might come in to replace him.

I still question the 3 year deal for Cooper. Bit trigger happy with that after the Hearts game. I like Cooper but a bit excessive for me.

I thought Cooper played well yesterday. Excellent ball in for Rudden’s goal and forced a decent save from the keeper in the first half. I think we missed him when he went off.
I’m surprised we kept Oakley-Boothe on but Lennon obviously sees something in him. He was excellent against Hearts, in fact we fell apart when he went off in that game. He just needs to play like that more often.
We definitely need another centre half, striker and possibly a right back.

A few things missing from coopers game which will hold him back from going a lot higher, he’s not got any real pace to beat and get away from his marker and lacks a trick to beat a man.
Didn’t realise it’s a 3 year deal he got, yeah that’s a bit of a worry as I fancy like boothe he’ll drop out of the team now we have Jefferson and McLeod to came back.

Coopers corner for the first goal then his cross for the second, forced the keeper into a save, then the dummy to give a player a shot at goal.
Doing nae bad by my account and more to come as he settles into that position.

I hope I’m right but I think Young’s issue is confidence. I’d imagine he’ll be desperate to hit the ground running and badly needs a few goals to settle his nerves. Some of the goals he scored at Edinburgh City were fantastic and showed what he’s capable of. Perhaps he needs a loan to a League One team to get his confidence up. I still believe he could become an important player for us. I still think it was wrong to bring him on yesterday when we were trying to hold on. Otoo might have been a better option.

I agree neils, I think he`s too good to go out on loan. He does some fab things - that goal at Hearts, his corners are really good, he shoots and has been really close to scoring several times from half chances. He competes for the ball and wins it at times. He gets stuck in. I`m for giving him plenty of time to develop here at EEP.
A similar point regarding Andrew Tod. Some have suggested he should go out on loan. Too good for that. Isn`t he our top scorer? Does he have to do much else at the rate he`s been scoring? I don`t see why we`d want to send one of our best goal scorers out on loan.

Morton are set to sign Aaron Comrie.
The right-back is set to land a one-year deal with a club option of another 12 months.
Comrie has been a free agent since he left Dunfermline Athletic in the summer.
The 28-year-old had been in line to sign a deal with Hamilton but that collapsed.
Accies had wanted to sign him but the move fell through when they had a signing embargo placed on them.

Considering the SFA skulduggery has torpedoed our attempts to sign an Italian based striker, do we now consider a cheeky bid for Oli Shaw? Surely Hamilton would have to consider an offer that would give them enough to pay their lecky bill and avoid a wind up order?

We looked higher, we didn’t get them for a variety of reasons. Shaw is a better option than Connor Young for this season. He scored an impressive amount of goals in a dug meat Hamilton team last year. He’s right there. Hamilton need money and you have to imagine he’d be absolutely delighted to come.
It’s not an obsession, it just makes a lot of sense. We’d be better doing it than not, unless the club has another option we can get over the line tonight.

I would suggest Lenny won’t panic and will now wait till the January window unless an SPL club offers a banger of a player on loan

Some on the forum were underwhelmed by the signing of Rudden, I wasn’t one of them tho. I’m on record as saying he was a decent signing on the thread.

As I said I’m not having a go at yourself. I was having a go at this obsession about Ollie Shaw which has been ongoing since the start of the transfer window, especially considering the avenue we have been going down with signings.
Re Zak, my only concern is that he’s been a bit of a journeyman.

Very very happy with our business this summer without any statement signings which we half expected. I think we are still very early in the gelling process but the signs are there.
However I do think we miss that top quality second striker that catapults you into promotion contenders like a Brian Graham type. Maybe Lennon could pull a few strings and get a short term loan till January for a player of Johnny Kenny`s ilk, long shot I know. I think we lack that match winner but overall we`re showing signs of progress. Couldn`t be happier.

I’m not so worried about Rudden having been around a bit. He’s 25 now, he’s scored plenty goals at this level already and he’s looking to kick on and establish himself somewhere. Some of those clubs let him move on because they moved up to the prem (Dundee) and didn’t think he was ready to step up at the time. Others he left because they lacked ambition and he felt he could do better (Queen’s Park). Others were only loan spells anyway.
I think we will see the best years of his career here.

Shaw was never the option. No way Hamilton would sell when they can’t recruit with a ban,he is their best player, only chance they’ve got to go back uo y

Yes but Hamilton’s priority is not getting promoted, it’s staying alive which is more short term.

There is no chance Hamilton will be going back up. They are about to get another big points deduction rammed up their hoop for paying “amateur” players. Also, they are so financially jumped they might not even exist in 12 months.

I second that Rigger Al……….
Astonishing the amount of commitment the new owners have shown.

Have to agree with that Rigger Al.
They have put their money where their mouth is and got us massive upgrades in terms of players and manager.
We are streets ahead of where we were in December before they invested.
Thanks James and Evan.

Agree with that. The new guys did say they’d let actions do the talking and they’re certainly active with transfers in.

Can`t argue with our owners thus far at all, definitely seem to be building something instead of the same tired old names coming in and doing hee haw.
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

My original concern was signing more players like Wanyama who were well past their best but a "big" name.
They`ve strengthened the squad in pretty much every area of the park and brought in plenty of players who can conceivably develop and improve over the next couple years whilst also still being able to compete for the playoffs now.
I`m treating this as a bit of a reset year as I think we`re still another summer away from having a team capable of challenging for the title and being able to bring in targets that maybe weren`t possible this summer as well. Hard to believe the change in ownership only happened 9 months ago.

I do think wanyama was a publicity stunt tp motivate players aroind him, he was never going to olay much fottball. Arguably it worked.

there are more names in terms of free agents compared to potential loan options if they are still wanting another striker in particular, they might go with what is here now and keep the cash in case a centre half is needed if Benedictus and Fisher depart.

ex-par Scott Banks moved to blackpool on loan, Brexit rules means he was unable to play for St Pauli u23s so had to be loaned out or would be frozen out of playing

Well said, Rigger Al. It is hard to fault the performance of the new owners. Chalk and cheese compared to the over-cautious Germans.
The manner in which the DAFC GmbH team "upped stumps" in a huff left a lot of fans quite disappointed. Still, I suppose we should commend them for appearing to have carefully selected a buyer who should take our club forward in a positive and exciting direction.
There has been a real wow factor to this summer`s transfer window. Happy days!
