A Tod in for Cooper. Otherwise the same team as started v Ross County.

Kane still on the bench, as is Abdulai.

Wonder if young Mehmet and Todd are on thier way out on loans?

If the choice is between Tod and cooper for that supporting the striker role I’m surprised Tod is getting the nod to be honest as his general play has not been great from what I’ve seen, mind you I’m not sold that cooper is quite good enough for top half championship either.

Another big test today, they will be big and physical and we’ll need to stand up and be counted to get anything. We have to be good enough to at least get a point.

No it doesn’t Dave, his general play so far this season hasn’t been that great at all. Unless you’re going to tell me that’s not true?

It’s good he seems to have the instinct to get into the right place at the right time to get the chances and goals though. It will keep him in ahead of cooper.

Young Tod sniffs out where to be, you can’t teach that in a player.

It`s funny how we can watch the same players and have completely different opinions.

Berkey reckons that Andy Tod`s general play hasn`t been that good. I think it`s his strength. His awareness for a pass is fantastic. His ability to find space (and score) is obviously pretty good. He tracks back and defends resolutely. He puts his body on the line and he`s pretty smart with the odd professional foul when needed.

I`d agree that he`s not consistently on his game, but he`s just a kid and we`ve not been consistently that good as a team since he got his first start.

Obviously, I`m biased, because of his dad, but I`ve liked the look of him since the very first time I saw him in a Pars top.

When you add his work rate to his ability, I`d honestly have him as the first name on the team sheet every week.

Great first half. Everyone looking good, although Munn doesn`t look great at crosses.

Midfield and attack looking really positive, and I am sure we can all agree that Andy Tod`s general play has been excellent. Wouldn`t you say @Berkey?

I imagine some of the boys who were on international duty may tire in the second half so I hope the standard doesn`t slip when we start making subs.

I`d expect us to try to tie this up in the first 15 mins or so of the second half and then see if the subs can see it out.

I don’t know about his general play today as not at the game but if he put the ball in the net twice it doesn’t really matter.

I just said my opinion, he looked a bit behind the others this season in terms of physicality and keeping the ball etc but Sounds like they are all having a stormer today though.

He had an opinion and he can change it if he feels the player has improved.

Think the last time 4 away from home was the Airdrie game when we were 3 nil down. Anyway just had a text from John McGlynn. He`s sick but he does mention they`re beating us
7 - 4 on corners.

Is that the Arbroath 2 points above us in the league, c’mon credit when it’s due! 5-0 against any team is impressive!

How it embarrassing? My post was based on games before today’s, unless today’s performance is so good it actually changes his previous games?

DBA I gave my opinion on what I had seen of him so far and I posted that BEFORE the game today, so me being at today’s game is irrelevant. You’re trying a bit too hard son.

For me this is the first game he’s played against championship opposition where it appears he’s looked at home at this level, what’s wrong with saying that?

I just said my opinion, he looked a bit behind the others this season in terms of physicality and keeping the ball etc but Sounds like they are all having a stormer today though.

Not at the game. Brilliant.

Awaiting the apology when you get round to watching the highlights, if you ever do.

Why should he apologise?
He had an opinion and he can change it if he feels the player has improved.
That doesnt mean he isnt entitled to his previous opinion

Agreed. But he`s doubled down on an opinion when he`s not even at the game.

Be nice if he admitted he made a mistake, at least once in his life.

We won 5 nil and all your thinking was about attacking another poster for an opinion he had about a player. Pretty much sums up this forum. Brilliant result today and long may it continue.

I was really quite nervous about that game.

Obviously the first goal in this division is really important, but that`s as dominant a performance as I`ve seen us put in for a long time.

Also, it`s clear what NL is trying to do. The defence are also an attacking threat (apart from Bene). Everyone is confident on the ball. There`s aggressive pressing all over the part. We can attack from anywhere.

The players he`s brought in have improved the team. Amade = excellent, Carceres = excellent, Rudden = good for this level, Kearney = tons of potential, Fraser = great and improving with every game, Munn = room for improvement, but can stop a shot.

Just as importantly, the players he inherited look better, more confident and he`s willing to put kids in the team if they`e good enough.

I thought we played some really good football. Great ball from Rudden for A Todd`s second. A really good performance overall and you can`t argue with 5 goals. Positive going forward today and we created more chances than the 5 goals we scored. Well done to the boys today with a clean sheet to boot

ANDREW was quite tickled when I introduced him as "Grandson of God" to Carnegie PS P7s, and explained that Pars fans used to sing "Andy Tod, Son of God" about his dad. 😁

--------

If ANDREW keeps going the way he is, I think he`s every right to be known by his first name alone, in the manner of other players - the Brazilian striker RONALDO comes to mind. Am I correct in thinking some players known by their first name, have had it on their shirt? Imagine `ANDREW` with a big number 9. Fergie`s old shirt? Early days I know, I`m just enjoying the feeling of the Pars far exceeding my expectations!

Taylor Sutherland came on in the 64th minute for Clyde who were 5-0 and he got an assist to make it 6-0.

Jake Sutherland got 5 minutes at the end for Forfar.

Wasn`t sure Tod coming in for Cooper was the right call pre match either to be fair and even in games where he`s scored sometimes his all round hasn`t been the best. However, he certainly did a lot right today from the bits I saw. Good off the ball running, a lot of drifting wide left to find space, intelligent usage of the ball and the timing of his runs was spot on. Could have had another but for a fine save.

Gives us a bit of optimism and if we can get any positive result next week then it`ll set us up nicely for a good season I reckon. Players look far better coached, look confident and are running like nothing I`ve seen for a while. Long may it continue!

Watch yourself Kelty, apparently voicing an opinion based on what you have seen is a no no with some. Plus apparently what you have seen can still change weeks after it happened if the player has a good game!

Cracking result today, sounds like we dominated them, bodes well the team has settled in so quickly with a relatively stable first 11 already formed and gelling.

Great and deserved result in a place we’ve found difficult to get much from in recent years. Only negatives I could mention would be the midfield subs, like last week, were wrong and fortunately unlike last week we were too far ahead for this to realistically cost us anything. And Bene got bullied most of the game by Todorov but I feel this is something we will need to get used to at this end of his career.

Good result and keeps us in the hunt. Still lessons to be learned.

Great stuff today despite a bit of crap weather. The only downside is the one absolute weapon of a boy who kept shouting Pedo at the opposition. Not only is this kind of patter absolutely rancid but if there was ever anyone who looked like he might have something to hide on his laptop then it was that guy. If you are reading this, you are a speccy wee fud. Embarrassing to be in the same support as folk like that.

Just back and waiting in the takeaway for my curry.

Really chuffed and honestly delighted with the result, the performance and the direction we are going in under Lennon…..and to be totally honest honest, I don’t think Arbroath did much wrong, and didn’t look like a bad side.

Where do you start with that?? Andy Tod was excellent and will rightly get the plaudits but the whole team were fantastic and the front 3 ran riot. Sludden was the battering ram, Carceres the sprinkle of magic, and Tod the lethal finisher…it was all there.

Huge praise for the back 3 who battled and battled, another impressive performance by Fraser as well.

That’s the standard, be that more weeks than not and we’ll take some beating.

Disagree. Thought Todorov was bang average. Only player to come off the pitch without a spot of mid on him.

What a match. So many really great and skillful signings, better tempo and tactics and movement off the ball and finally a manager prepared to play youth and some of our best flair attacking players from last season like Andy Tod and Josh Cooper. Nice to also see us look to get forward when it’s on. Hats off to our new owners too.

That`s a great win. We played pretty well, but a few things did go our way. Of course, making it count when that happens is very important, and we certainly did that today.

Good start to the game from us - on top until the first goal and Arbroath looked pretty dire and must have hit about 6 passes forward from the halfway line that went hopelessly out for goal kicks. Will be interesting to see it again, but looked like there was a lot of luck in the first goal - I saw it as a total mishit that fooled the keeper, going past him at the near post when intent looked to be to hit it across him. I might be wrong.

The spell in the middle of the first half at 1-0 was really important. We were struggling a bit and being forced back, giving away a number of corners. Most of them were dangerous and our keeper was finding them hard to deal with as they kept the pressure on. That was at the time when it was really heavy rain and we were playing into a gusting wind. We were also fannying about on the ball more than we should have been, which didn`t help. But, we got through that tough spell and that was crucial. I don`t think Bene dominated Todorov (or was dominated by him) but I do think he had a good game which was really important in us winning. I know I tend to focus on defensive aspects of the game more than other folk and some will find that odd after scoring 5, but that spell was really important.

Second goal was beautiful. Getting through the tough spell was big, but obviously it made a massive difference to score again just before half-time. Nicely worked between them, with a good ball, great run and good finish.

We were pretty comfortable in the second half and never really looked in much danger. Maybe a bit of luck in the third goal as the linesman put his flag up for offside through the middle, but the ref correctly played on. The defence might have stopped when they saw it - I`m not totally sure as I looked away for a second when I saw the flag. With all those goals I might even be mixing them up, but the 4th (I think) started wtih a nice long free kick from Mullen, taken quickly and picking out the space really well.

We deserved to win, though most games like that wouldn`t finish with as big a score. Nice to have a game when we score with most of our chances.

Great performance, best for a few years.

Squad is at a different level to last season and younger, we brought on Kane and Otoo with 10mins to go and 5-0 up who were 1st picks last season.

Kinda sad that some of us can`t enjoy nights like this without having a pop at other posters but that`s forums i guess.

Excellent result away from home, not sure what else can be asked of Tod or Rudden but alas they have their detractors.
I still think we have the potential to be up and down if we don`t click but night and day to what we`ve been served up in recent years.

We`re not bad, not bad at all.

I don`t wanna go down like disco.

NL said it was the most `complete` performance since he came to manage the Pars. I would say it`s the most `complete` Pars` performance for years. Everyone looked comfortable on the ball and was looking for a pass to a team-mate. Caceres looks like a special player.

Let`s hope there`s more to come.

Belter of a day out. Good pub culture in Arbroath, good food at the stalls. Steak and black pudding pie is unreal, and a ground that is unique at this level of Scottish football.

On the football side we were superb.

We had a right tough 25 minutes in that first half and got through it. Went toe to toe in the fight with them.

We certainly have better footballers this year, but they also know how to scrap. That pleases me every bit as much as the clear improvement in scoring goals and creativity.

The main reason behind it is good coaching and brilliant midfield three of Gilmour, Amade and Caceres. They just provide a foundation for the rest of the team to thrive.

Fair play to big Todorov. Gave us an applause at the end.
Thought Bene battled well with him all game. He`s still a handful.
Some of the football was a joy to watch. Made getting absolutely soaked before the game worth it 🤣

That midfield of Amade & Gilmour with Caceres is levels above anything we’ve had for years. Infact I can’t even recall the last time we had such quality in the middle of the park.

Bene absolutely dominated Todorov. For me he was Motm but Tod will rightly get it for his goals. Today showed Todorovs level league one striker at best.

Todorov should/could have scored early on, and was a handful throughout despite having little support - never was ‘dominated’

Praise for Bene from the Manager post match.

And I have to say, the old man at the back, the captain [Kyle Benedictus], was one of the best players on the pitch today as well. I thought he was sensational.”

``Bene`s doing remarkably well for a guy whose `legs have gone`!``

Never believed in this personally. He was good towards the end of last season.

No need to be antagonistic though.

Great night tonight. Real proof today that our team is finally going forward. Loved that today.

Tash when he came on seemed to play with more freedom ( at 4-0 it’s a lot easier) than I’ve seen before. He showed a lot of pace on a run down the right flank that was more reminiscent of his highlights from down south. Is that more his position ?

I’ve got to say I honestly believe our midfield is absolutely dynamite atm. Best in the league from what I’ve seen. Gilmour Amade and Caceras 💪

Bene had a poor game against County and they’ve probably got the best striker (certainly in the top 2/3) in the league 2-2 although we looked unplayable at times. We were generally poor against Rovers but there was improvement when Amade and Caceras came on just need to remember Caceras had just joined. Munn having a howler didn’t help. Barring Injuries I think we’ll be fighting for Playoffs come the end of the season. Then obviously we had yesterday 5-0 🤌which I missed - I was going to go but some idiot bought black facings for white doors so the wee job of the painter turning up to top coat in the morning turned into 5fkn coats 🤦🏻‍♂️

Oh if only we could get a game against Grangemouth now!

Also I think Robbie Fraser is an outstanding player. How we’ve got him 🤷🏻‍♂️ couple of Rangers fans were saying to me they should never have let him go and I’ve got to agree with them.

That second goal was such a joy. Caceres gets the ball and rather than play the ball backwards he turns and goes infield, lays it off to Amade who plays a first time pass to Rudden. Rudden goes forward and plays an absolutely delightful ball into the middle and Tod has a clinical finish. Not sure we’ll see a better team goal than that for a while.

I can see why the linesman flagged for the 3rd goal socks, certainly looked as though Tod was the intended recipient, moved near the ball and was in the eyeline of the centre backs so there`s definitely an argument that he was influencing play from an offside position. What can`t be argued is that Arbroath switched off and didn`t go by the old adage of "play to the whistle". Agree with the first goal though, the keeper was totally wrong footed. Not sure if it was a proper sclaff or an Ozil-style hit into the ground but the keeper would have been expecting it to go across him. Second was a superb finish though. Fifth goal might also have been offside and the keeper will be disappointed he didn`t stop it.

I wouldn`t underestimate the quality of plsy yesterday. Even Arbroaths manager said so. The second goal was one of the best team goals I have seen in a long time. Jefferson will be one of those players who will create space in tight positions and create opportunities from nothing. Our positive attitude to go forward was great to see.

I`ve only seen the highlights, but that was a very impressive result and performance. The players will be buzzing at training this week, and this will have given them a tremendous boost ahead of Friday`s game. We must be in with a decent chance of getting a positive result. If Morton can go there and come away with a point, there`s no reason we can`t go there and believe we can go one better.

Now, that would really be a statement of intent.

I think the thing is that the result has been coming. The RR game was a slip, but otherwise, there has been a game on game improvement. That`s down to the management and hard work by the players as a squad. Clearly, there is more confidence in the team and more appetite to go forward and work the defence. A big improvement as well in the final third with general movement and with the final ball into the box into no man`s land between the keeper and defender. We have strength in depth now that will hopefully see us challenging at the top end of the league. It`s one great team performance to build on and demonstrates the ability within the squad overall.

I think Andrew uses his Sunday name to avoid confusion with his dad. Of course, dad could have rendered it unnecessary by choosing a name other than his own for his number 1 son. 🙂

TBF, he wanted to keep to family names and calling him Jesus or God probably wouldn`t go down well at school.
