As we all are...I`m pumped after Saturday.
Very young team
As I said after the Raith game - it was ( perversely) good to get a learning curve quickly in the season.
So how will we deal with Friday under the lights ...
Sublime against the Saints
or rank as we were against Raith
My guess .. 1up .. bring it on
1 down - it will go Pete Tong

We might win we might lose, who knows. But with the changes made in midfield since that terrible first 45 agains Raith then I at least expect a tight game. Worried about the keeper though….
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Lenny clearly rates him. Also bought a keeper to join the squad. Mehmet isn`t in the mix. But I too - am not convinced

The very fact we are discussing whether we can win or not is an upgrade on last year, so, for me, I am ok as the guys will put in a shift and it is more exciting because we know we can score goals. Last year it was about avoiding conceding first and foremost. A bit demoralising before we had even started.
So all positive from me 😃

A draw would do but I have a wee feeling we might beat them.
Looking forward to it and hope the internet holds up on the ship I’m on so I can watch it all.

I’m really excited about this team, but we will have our moments. I can’t wait to Friday night and although we are underdogs and it’ll be a tough ask, I think we have it in us to beat them or pick up a positive result, especially if we play like we did on Saturday.
Either way, it’s a great feeling being back to looking forward to match days again, and having a bit of hope.

It`s going to be a tough game. They have alot of pace up front. From the RR highlight Rovers were the better team but wasted good chances.A new challenge for a young team, but as they showed against Hearts they are more than capable of rising to it

We can give anyone a game now it`s just a question of consistency which is the biggest challenge with a young team. Going off socials and forums saints fans seem very confident, rightly so but no team in this division is ever levels above the rest and anyone can beat anyone.
Hope we bring a big crowd to hopefully win in front of for once. I too think it`s a big game for Munn, not convinced so far.

A draw wouldn’t be bad but if we were to have serious title ambitions, we need to go for it.
I know it’s early in the season still but 3 points either way is a statement in itself.

The team will be buzzing with confidence after Arbroath.I don`t think they`ll fear Saints which has to be a positive. Morton came away with a point so we must have a chance of getting something. Much may depend on who scores first.

Agree with posters here Play how we did at Arbroath score first and we have a real chance of getting the 3 points !
The only thing i would like to see is us defending a bit better and not giving so much corners away etc , We cannot forget we did give Arbroath some chances that on another day they might have scored from , the big plus for me our midfield is ticking and you can see everyone wants the ball , nobody hides, I don`t want to get carried away but I am quietly confident of getting the result , Cannot remember the last time i said that ,

As usual the first goal matters, if Saints go 1-0, especially early(ish) the Pars have a real challenge to get a result.
I doubt their defence will be as iffy as Arbroath.

Having watched Raith TV highlights, the way St Johnstone tore the Wee Team apart on Saturday we will do well to contain them. Basically Raith Rovers were left standing for both goals.

Believe the scoreline. Do yourself a favour and watch the Raith TV highlights. I did not see the We Team as dominant, the recorded match stats slightly favour St Johnstone if you want an indicator from a neutral source.

Yeah Rovers must have fancied their chances on Saturday.
Good teams overcome that as Saints did.
We can give them a game but let’s face it, they are heavy favourites for the title.

I watched the highlights too and thought Rovers played the better football and probably should have scored a couple.
StJ did not tear Rovers apart. For both goals Rovers defence parted like the Red Sea allowing a one on one with the keeper then a two on one with the keeper.
Rovers lost it as much as Saints won it.

The most interesting thing is that in 26 posts, Chris Kane has not been mentioned.
Wind the clock back just a little and we could have expected the narrative to have been that we couldn’t possibly win a game of this magnitude without him.

It`s evident that Lennon doesn`t like the fact he needs wrapped in cotton wool. his quote at the end of last season and during pre-season " wants players to be in better condition and a lot more robust" would emphasize that. I don`t doubt he respects his ability but he wants consistency and stability and you don`t get that with Kane despite him being a big player in the last two seasons.

I’ve been praying for this time that Kane wasn’t seen as our only hope.
I like him a lot as a player but it was so demoralising last season when he wasn’t playing knowing we simply would not score a goal.
He’s now a great option to have on the bench even when fit.

Spoke to 2 different rovers mates yesterday and they believe should have been 1-0 up right before st Johnstone scored. St J started like a train opening 10 mins (similar to hearts did vs us in cup) so need to be "on it" from KO. Both Rovers fans bemused that McMullen went off for Jack Hamilton whilst Vaughan was largely ineffective.

A really tough one, I think St Johnstone will win the league with a bit to spare, so a big test for us
As said before our midfield is looking really good, with options also
It`s a big test for our defence , would love us to win as the Saints fans seem to excessively cocky!
A lot of our players are still bedding in, we are very young also, so as long as we have crack at it.

Gifted them 2 goals, and a lack of composure in their box was their views.. both were at the game.

Simo Valakari seems to think we`ll be the best team SJ will have played so far this season. He`s impressed with our midfield and the number and quality of crosses we get into the box.
He crossed swords with NL as a player in a Leicester-Derby match and has always been impressed with the teams he has managed.

I can’t see him being handed a new deal unless something changes drastically with his availability. A good player to have in the squad and on his day he adds something, but if he’s only managing two thirds of a season then it’s a hard one to justify. I`d guess he is one of the higher earners in the squad and can we really justify it for someone who misses so much games.
c'mon the pars
